No way he quits all together 4 homers shy of 700. Some lagging team would pick him up just for the ticket sales of his HR chase.

He's still a gigantic pile of shite.

surprised they didn't take him out with 2 outs in the 9th

Just remember the ARod of the Mariners. He was something special.
He never needed that shite to achieve the records he did. Damn shame he did that to himself.

Why is he retiring today? Pretty arbitrary

He will hit number 700 as a Miami Marlin next June.
Posted on 8/13/16 at 8:03 am to BBATiger
What position would he play in Miami?

Not sure if he is completely done, but the way this happened he will get a plaque in monument park, be able to participate in all Yankees activities, work as an advisor for the Yankees, etc. all things that seemed like they would never happen prior to last year.
He will still get paid his full salary which is nice as well. I think they should keep him on as a coach, he has a ton of knowledge and works with the Yankees youngsters during spring training to help them.
