I don't like the fact that the playoff has basically cannibalized Bowl season.

Bowl season used to be my favorite thing about college football.

Now half the time when you click on a bowl game, one team doesn't give a s*** about being there and the other one does

Makes for a very unentertaining game. I guess unless you're betting on the game

The NCAA knows it wont be relevant soon in CFB and maybe even college athletics altogether. So they gave the people what they wanted knowing full well this would be the result. Its literally the girl with the house on fire meme.

Except none of that happened lmao. How are people years later still not even remotely familiar with how this has come about?

Aside from LSU baseball and football, I’m getting where I just dont care about college sports.

And I’m rapidly losing interest in LSU football.

The NIL/Portal era shows how great Kirby Smart is as a coach. So much harder to win a NC, much less 2 in 3 years in this era than it was until 2021. Has a decent chance to make it 3 out of 4.

Agreed. Ratings are higher than ever and games are incredibly entertaining. 12 team playoff makes games I would never care about meaningful. Sport seems to actually be at its peak.

college football has turned into rooting for your team to spend the most money. at least the NFL has a salary cap.

The courts and congress did this. Not the NCAA.

Don't forget the DOJ. They are responsible for the ruling that allowed unlimited transfers.

Any type of salary cap will be a farce and we will be right back to where we started with schools paying athletes under the table

And if they get caught, they ought to get the death penalty the first time.

No more probation bullshite, scholarships taken away, death penalty.

That’s the best way to curb this shite.

All this bullshite needs to crumble. Go back to actual students who are made to attend class and pass as a part the qualifications to play. If you're a dipshit but can play, tough shite, gtfo. It's perverted right now, has been for some time.

My stance has always been that NIL itself isn’t the problem. The NCAA dragging their feet while the writing was on the wall and letting the government make the decision for them is the problem. If they had allowed it but put some limitations in place such as “no university involvement at all” (nil collectives, etc.) I think that probably at least staves off some of the issues we’ve seen arise for a while, so there could actually be some more structure in place.

Sure you’d still have big cat/mintzy/whoever else slinging bills for Michigan, etc. but at least it’d be directly between those two parties.

My main beef is the portal. Yes cfb always had some level of turnover because of the nature of it but at least 99% of the time you could count on a player being there at least 3 years. This wide open, anything goes crap is annoying. You have coaches out right offering athletes “under contract” (I know it’s not really a contract but still) more money to go while they’re still in season. And, like sark said, you’re asking coaches to do roster retention crap while they’re preparing to win championships. It’s insane.

Yes, the US gov. (DOJ/Supreme court, etc.) made these rules but the NCAA caused it by not doing their job.

Let it collapse. When it does I hope people blame the right people: agents, players, and decades of administrative negligence at the NCAA. Secondary blame is to all the weak athletic directors out there.

Fans are in this all alone now. If you're contributing money to CFB (your program and school) right now, you are just lighting it on fire. Save it for your family.

It wasn't that long ago you could fill up a cart with groceries and pay $100. Now it's about $200. Why on earth would you waste money needed to feed your family on some players that could not give a shite about your school and will shite on you the instant someone offers them a dollar more?

There are no Gators or Vols or Dawgs or Tigers any more - we just have some dudes wearing a uniform. Let it burn.

Target.

Decades of administrative negligence at the NCAA. And it's not like they went without warning. So many people told them their policies sucked and would create problems later. And here we are...

It’s getting hard to cheer for hired guns making millions at 18 years old when I’m getting raked over the coals for every nickel and dime I’m earning.

Yep, it's just the bunch of football players that use Tiger Stadium, Ben-Hill Grifffin and Neyland Stadium.

Here is a list of NCAA presidents. All of them, starting with James Frank, have played a huge role in the administrative negligence that got us to this point.
From wiki

Presidents of the NCAA

The NCAA had no full-time administrator until 1951, when Walter Byers was appointed executive director.[1] In 1998, the title was changed to president.[65]

Walter Byers 1951–1988 (Executive Director)
James Frank 1981–1983 (Executive Director)
Dick Schultz 1988–1993
Judith Sweet 1991–1993
Cedric Dempsey 1994–2002[65]
Myles Brand 2003–2009[65][66]
Jim Isch 2009–2010 (interim)[67]
Mark Emmert 2010–2023
Charlie Baker 2023–present[68]
