See, anyone that's still using this tired argument clearly doesn't actually watch LeBron play. He controls every single thing that happens on the floor in games. LeBron has honed his skills to the point where he can respond to anything that happens on the court in order to make the most efficient and effective basketball play. LeBron is directly responsible for almost everything that happens on any team he plays. It doesn't matter who his teammates are, because he gets all of them involved. He dragged a team of nobodies to the Finals at age 22. Stop acting like any of the players he's played for have drastically lightened the burden; LeBron always has and always will be responsible for what happens to his teams.

Other than Wade, you just listed a bunch of players who never won a single playoff series as the team's best player. Is that what you were shooting for?

First round exits in Playoffs

Jordan - 3
Lebron - 0

Swept in playoffs

Jordan - 2 (Both first round)
Lebron - 1 (Finals)

Conference finals apperances
Jordan 8 (6-2)
Lebron 9 (7-1)

Finals apperances
Jordan 6 (6-0)
Lebron 7 (3-7)

Missed playoffs
Jordan - 2 (both with wizards)
Lebron - 2 (first 2 seasons)

Season MVP
Jordan - 5
Lebron - 4

Finals MVP
Jordan - 6
Lebron - 3

To me they are 1A and 1B all time then everyone else. A legitimate case can be made for either in the A slot. Let's quit acting like one is far greater than the other and just be glad we are still getting to watch one right now.

Lebron has played on better teams than Jordan. Jordan didn't jump ship in Chicago to chase a championship. Neither did Bird of Magic. Jordan didn't sit games out for rest. Take Kyrie off the Cavs team and see if Lebron is still the GOAT...The real GOAT is Bill Russell

I am going to guess if Jordan never had a Pippen type player he wouldn't be considered the GOAT.

What? If you're referring to this board, I have not seen this (or anywhere, really).

there are multiple posts on the very first page of this thread that say lebron is bigger and faster than anyone in the 90s and would dominate. I'm sorry but for lebron fans to think he would dominate I'm the paint against prime Ewing or shaq is ridiculous

I will say this to the guys who want to argue of stat lines. Lebron has a drastically different play style than Jordan. Jordan was a true 2 whereas James is damn near a point forward. Now some could argue that's a sign of James passing ability being better than Jordan but to just throw stat limes put when comparing 2 players who play different positions is silly

Jordan had the second best player in the league on his team for a number of years in Scottie Pippen. Which leads to

Jordan didn't jump ship in Chicago to chase a championship.

Lebron's first run in Cleveland those teams around him were absolute garbage. and he still had a better playoff run in his first seven seasons than Jordan in his. He left because they wouldn't give him any support.

Jordan didn't sit games out for rest.

Every team does this in today's game. Medical science and studies back up that its extremely beneficial to long term success over a season. Sports adapt and change with medical advancements.

Take Kyrie off the Cavs team and see if Lebron is still the GOAT

Take Pippen off the Bulls and see if they win a championship.

Different game then and I have a hard time calling someone the GOAT that averaged 15 points a game over his career.

So then was his competition inferior?

Jordan didn't jump ship in Chicago to chase a championship.
No. But why would he leave Pippen and Jackson, one of the greatest players and coaches of all time?
quote:

Jordan didn't sit games out for rest.
No, but that wasn't typical back then. Finally people started to realize that strategically resting players during a few regular season games can be valuable when it comes to the more important playoff games.

Take Kyrie off the Cavs team and see if Lebron is still the GOAT
So just take off his best teammate? So take off Pippen for Jordan, Shaq or Pau for Kobe, McHale for Bird, Kareem or Worthy for Magic, Magic or Robertson or Worthy for Kareem. None of them will look as good.

Lebron brought all of this onto himself. He's the one that left the Cavs in a huge fashion and then returned, he's the one that's played GM and assembled teams of his choice. Yeah the game has changed into that, but that doesn't change the fact that's what he's done.

Lebron is a great player and maybe better athletically, but as far as the fire for the game and putting fans in the seat he's no where near MJ imo. Maybe it's the change of times or whatever I don't know, but every kid wanted to watch the MJ playoffs. Not many kids care about Lebron's playoffs.

You're saying he isn't bigger/stronger/faster than anyone from the 90s? Name em, good luck.

Lebron wouldn't dominate in the paint? He's literally the 1 player in today's game most qualified to do well against that style of competition back in the day. You're basically stating that no one in today's game can play well in the paint then. That's just silly.
