I mean I used hyperbole, but no. I’m a even a fan of a midfield team and and enjoy those battles, but it doesn’t change the fact most races are pretty damn boring except for the start and pit strategies
I guess it looks like I was hating on it, but I’m not. I love F1 overall for what it is. I just don’t think there is much excitement for the majority of races

He apparently missed all of 2021.

There’s been great on track racing the past couple years.

My one warm take after watching S4 is that George Russell is going to have major pains in the Mercedes this year- he just seemed so much more emotional versus Valtteri who everyone basically admitted was the perfect #2 for Lewis
I hope this ends up one of the biggest stories of the year. Russell was hired as Hamilton's replacement. I think Mercedes would have preferred to keep Bottas as Hamilton's teammate and keep Russell at Williams for another year, but they couldn't risk him signing with another top team. Hamilton and Russell clashing like Hamilton and Rosberg will be a headache for Toto but great for the fans. Toto believes from past experience he knows how to handle two fast drivers. I just hope Russell shows up this year and challenges Hamilton's team dominance. Another interesting point is that if Russell does well, he's going to siphon off a lot of British fans who are ready to crown a new British hero.

I want Russel to be the “fast” car of the two from week to week. Make Toto and Lewis have to deal with that and cause all the drama. No doubt Lewis would fall back on some perceived victimhood putting Toto in a no win situation.

No doubt he is talented. But I can still see Lewis chewing him up in the mind games department

Hamilton = $40 million
Russell = $5 million
There will be no mind games. Russell is the number 2 and will be treated as such by Mercedes. Just like Bottas was.
Other than the race where Russell substituted for Hamilton, have you ever seen Mercedes make a mental mistake? That was calculated. Couldnt have Russell smoke everyone in Hamiltons car.

I was trying to pace myself with DTS so that I finished Thursday ahead of FP1 on Friday. Had to work from home today and couldn't help myself and finished it.
I honestly don't know what WTF1 was whining about, I enjoyed it more than I expected. Of course some things are omitted and fudged a bit but that's to be expected. I'd rank season 4 not far behind season 1. It's great if you aren't super familiar with F1 and a good watch even if you are.

WTF1 is at the bottom of my F1 podcast list. Tommy is a douchebag and their diversity hire is worthless.

What podcasts does this board recommend? I listen to Missed Apex regularly, and Beyond the Grid occasionally, but I prefer race reviews and discussion on current events.

I like The Race and Late Braking. The laughing in Late Braking makes it annoying to listen to at times. It's a shrill laughing.
F1 Nation during the season even though Hill is a knob.
Bring back the V10s has some great throwback stories.

*Yeah, I know testing times mean nothing. Going purely with want versus sense and no I'm not putting any money down on this.
Let's see if the Italian with a German name that talks like a Brit can get the American ride back in the game.

I like F1 nation. I don’t mind Damon Hill and Natalie “Pinks” Pinkham is entertaining. DH gives great technical insights. And as a bonus, you get the Manscape commercials talking about ball deodorant and the weed whacker.

Hungary? Last year? Do you not remember Sir Lewis sitting on the grid by himself while everyone else restarted from the pit with wets on?
And Russell got a puncture in that race. So unless a Merc engineer threw a nail on the track? Russell would have won.
He jumped valtteri at the start to everyone on mercs surprise
He’s going to be interesting to watch.

So early week predictions? Not necessarily drivers, but teams finishes? I know it’s a crap shoot with new cars, but interested what people think.
Top: RB, Ferrari, McLaren
Mid: Mercedes, Aston, Tauri, Haas (wildcard)
Bottom: Romeo, Williams, Aston

Mercedes will be on the back foot early, book it. However, they will come back over the season.
Top RBR, Ferrari, Mercedes
Mid McLaren (they are going to have serious issues in the early part of the season) but will be at the top of the mid-field soon enough. Aston will be dead middle of the field. Haas is actually going to be a solid mid-fielder this year and may come out of the box finishing in the points.
Back Markers Alfa is going to be back of the pack with Williams then AR, Alpine and AT.
BTW get ready to see a guy named Lewis Larbalestier drive for Mercedes this year. I hear he is a decent driver.

Assuming you mean Alpine in the second group that seems like a solid guess.
I would probably keep Mclaren on the 2nd level and have them and/or Merc eventually pushing to the top level at some point in the first half of the season.
Merc has a new floor coming that might help with the porpoising. That package should have lots of upside if they can get it to work.
Alpine should be in the top group, but they haven't shown anything that makes me think that. Hard to believe they would he sandbagging.
