Still may be. Williams is a good training ground.

We're planning to go to Italy in September. Maybe I can talk the wife into going a little early and going to Monza? Oh, hell yes!

Not a great loss. Paul Ricard is a snoozer.

This was decided back in August I believe...

French GP organizers and F1 have stated the race could be back on the calendar in the near future and they are considering rotating venues.

Paul Ricard circuit is easily the most boring race each year - good riddance.

Can't freaking wait. One of at least 3 chicanes that need to go.

Great news! That chicane is an abomination that was never needed.

Ironically, of all the grand prix circuits, there is one formerly used chicane that I would actually like restored, and it's at the Catalunya circuit. In 1994, after the disasters in the two previous rounds (Karl Wendlinger almost died at Monaco), they put a temporary tire chicane just before the Nissan Chicane, and by the next year they had constructed a bypass, and the Nissan Chicane was never used again. It was a fast chicane that added flavor to that section of the track. In this on-board video of Schumacher doing a lap while stuck in 5th gear, the video starts just after the tire chicane, as he goes through the Nissan Chicane, and then at the end of the video you see the tire chicane.

Here's Schumacher doing a lap in 1991 on the original layout I'd love to see fully restored:
