If I were running F1, I'd create a small, spec 60's style car (simple tech, no downforce, awesome sound), and have a spec Monaco GP for WDC points. It would be billed as a pure driver's race with no excuses.
Have them race 60's Mini Coopers and you might get some passing.

Going clockwise, starting on Harmon, right on Las Vegas Blvd, right on Sands Ave, right into a parking lot connecting to Westchester Dr, then a left on Kove Lane going back down to Harmon.
Edit: track outlined above is around 3.8 miles / 6.12 km’s.

running a GT3 program and competing in F1 ain't even in the same ballpark.
It's not F1, but those prototypes are rocket ship technical marvels and about as close as you can get to the engineering of F1.

the track is counterclockwise, why are you saying it goes clockwise? The arrow literally points what way it is going.

Definitely counter, also the turns are numbered on other maps

Looks like it could have a small pit delta if the pits line up on Kove.

My bad, I didn’t notice the arrow. I got excited about going to Vegas to watch the race.

I'm thinking a fountain view room at Cosmo will give a pretty good view of the end of the straight. When reservations open up, that's what I'm booking. If track seating is good, I'll get them but the room will be a good backup.

Assuming it's in contract for a few years, the Hard Rock guitar going up in place of the Mirage will look pretty sweet at night

If you want decent quality, certain rooms in Wynn, Mirage, Venetian, Caesars, Bellagio, and Cosmo will have track views... As for the shady, Treasure Island, Harrahs, Flamingo.
Everything along the strip will be standing room only and don't see how they can charge for anything along there.

LV will be an exciting and interesting venue.
The track is a rather boring looking near extreme power track. Lots of early race DRS zone passing though, I assume there will be three DRS zones if we still have DRS then.
I would expect the track to be on the dangerous side. High speeds, little runoff, and concrete barriers.
I love the idea but I am skeptical about the implementation. In any case, it is going to be a clusterfrick for LV.

Wow, looks like they will be getting up to some crazy speeds with that setup.

DRS
I read that one point of the new aero was to eventually eliminate DRS. Could that happen while LV is still on the schedule?

The Strip straight isn't as long as the one at Baku, but the Vegas circuit doesn't have the windy sections that Azerbaijan does. I have to imagine they will set the cars up for minimum downforce and make them as slippery as possible.

Somebody did a lap in Assetto Corsa. That lap looks pretty boring. Might be a decent race though. Usually long straights into heavy braking zones promote the best overtaking opportunities, this straight might be long enough to not need a hairpin or tighter chicane though.

Cool. Yeah, very straightforward, nothing interesting about the track layout / terrain itself, this event is about the backdrop / light show.
I think that long curve around the MSG Sphere might be the only complication to a power track setup. The less downforce there is, the more tire wear around this section. Which is a good thing. I hope it's not a one-pit-stop race. Baku is a one-pit-stop race, so this probably will be as well.

Or Lotus 48's.

Or in the case of the Porsche 919 EVO, faster than F1. Granted that's a no-rules car, but it's still awesome.

Except when the Pirelli's randomly blow and take out two cars and everyone else changes tires under red flag.
