Migrant Caravans Not Reaching Border, Claudia Sheinbaum Says After Trump Threats

quote:

exican President Claudia Sheinbaum addressed U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's renewed threats of steep tariffs this week, asserting that migrant caravans are no longer reaching the U.S.-Mexico border.

Stupid liberal

quote:

“Dialogue is the best path to achieve understanding, peace and prosperity for our two countries,” Sheinbaum said. “I hope our teams can meet soon.”

Sheinbaum also noted that Mexico has taken significant steps to stem the flow of migrants at the border, saying, “Caravans of migrants no longer reach the border.”

I will say that I personally don't care if someone wants to do drugs. My stance has also been a bit libertarian regarding that and I have always said that as long as they don't suck up taxpayer resources nor cause harm to anyone else, then people should do all the drugs they want.

Please define your idea of taxpayer resources….Have you never worked an immigrant in your contracting business?

After 4 years of Trump and then 4 years of Bidenomics, why the hell would anyone doubt The Don?

We should be manufacturing in the USA and buying American as much as possible. This is the way.

If you buy American products you don't pay the tariffs. What is so hard to understand about this?

Why would anyone be against creating more jobs for Americans and in the process lower your income taxes?

If you are watching news that is against tariffs then you need to find a different source for your news. Tariffs are the best form of taxes that exist.

And it doesn't work the other way around. Mexican tariffs do nothing to us. It's an empty threat.

I doubt either of these is going to happen.

I agree. We should make more here, but it's not as simple as enacting a tariff and watching the manufacturing come back over night. It's a decades long thing. It takes lots of time and money to build these facilities, and it takes a lot of money to staff them. I can only speak to my industry, but even if we had a 200% tariff, it would still be cheaper to import. The American consumer is the loser in that situation.

The way I see it, if these tariffs are used as a threat for negotiating, great. I'm all for that. As with any bluff, we have to understand that our bluff can be called. If that happens, expect costs for a lot of things to dramatically increase.

______

I find that people that speak like this have little knowledge of the economy. I don't care for either president and am not aligned with either party. I try to be objective.

When it comes to tariffs there is not a lot of difference between Biden and Trump.

It’s a very thin line to walk. If you bring back low skilled manufacturing jobs to the US, the prices for those goods will be higher.
Pick your poison on the trade off for American jobs vs inflation.

Being that we are currently Paying the Americans to stay home along with the benefits and the illegals who are sending a decent chunk of what they earn back home completely out of our economy, I’m not convinced that bringing those manufacturing Jobs back home and paying Americans more to do those and the service jobs is the cost bogeyman it’s being sold as.

You need to give tax breaks to American manufacturing AND said companies have to pass those savings onto their customers in the form of lower prices.

Obviously that won’t happen lmao but that’s probably the only way we don’t get serious inflation.

Btw inflation was about ~8 percent during trump’s first term, despite gigantic cuts to corporate tax rates.

American manufacturers are always going to price in a “Made in America” premium. If the chicom’s price goes up to match our price, our companies will raise prices to capture that premium 100/100 times.
