Seems like it has been on a pretty steady rise as a recently, Any thoughts if will pull back anytime soon?

Buy it. Forget about it. Buy it some more times. Forget about it more times.

It is my biggest holding.

I dumped $50K in it at the beginning of Covid (March 2020) and have been adding to it ever since.

I keep thinking it will drop but just about every morning I check my portfolio and that bastard is green.

Pretty sure the S&P 500 has a history of going up the 2nd half of an election year. Plus there's a very high chance they'll start cutting rates.

Nothing is certain in the market but seems likely the S&P has more climbing to do this year.

Maybe read stickies and learn a bit more? Not sure what to say about this thread…effectively asking “what will the market do”

I only wish I had bought more and bought earlier. It’s 85% of my portfolio and I buy more every other week. VOO is the only one I own that I’m happy when it goes up or goes down. When it goes up I make money; when it goes down I get to buy more at a bargain.

Of course it will pull back eventually. Your only concern is if you are willing to bet it will be significantly higher in 5, 10, or 20 years than it is now. Take that bet.

I bought a handful of VGT in 2020 at $184… also bought a lot of stupid penny stocks and lost all of that money. It was play money but damn I wish I could go back and put it on in VGT.

I don't try to time the 500. If you sell for a 500 pullback, what would you move your money to? The 500 money is buy and hold money.

The only time I sold from the 500 was a shift to increase my bond holdings. I did that because conventional thinking due to my age. Regretted it ever since. Lol.

Also my biggest holding. I add to it occasionally but don’t on selling it anytime soon no matter what the market does.

For the last two years I continue to dump money every month in:
QQQ
VUG
VOO

Going to continue to do so for the next couple of years.

I’m late on QQQ, but I couldn’t believe the performance history. If you take out its first 3 years, it’s averaging like 20% growth per year with its only down years being 08 and 22. I don’t know what it looks like in 10 years, but I can’t imagine it not continuing to have significant gains

QQQ tracks the NASDAQ 100 index. Check the NASDAQ 100's returns from 1991 to 1999. Pretty wild.

Dont think there were any index funds tracking the NASDAQ 100 in the 90s though.

I bought a large chunk of vgt in early 2020 which was great.

I liquidated in mid November 2023, literally days before the market exploded.
