My TDAmeritrade accounts are now with Schwab after the purchase. The mobile trading app for Schwab is arse compared to TDA. Seems like a foreign language. Anyone have any advice?

Switch to Fidelity. That's what I did. Sucks that Schwab would acquire TD and just downgrade everything to their shitty platform.

Agreed. Never enjoyed Schwab's platform. TD was much simpler. I find myself phoning Schwab to walk me through things just so I don't 'muck' it up.
I'm gathering over time we will all figure it out and get used to it; however, it is a bit of a learning curve.

Does that require selling stocks, etfs and mutual funds first? Or can they just be transferred over?

I lost two decades of performance/price history. I'd been with them since they aquired Datek...pretty sure the "TD" and "Ameritrade" parts were a part of a merger/acquisition.

I have no idea how I'm going to track cost basis, other than to trust Schwab to come up with it.

Not a fan.

TOS isn’t going anywhere it just won’t be merged with all accounts til Q4. Schwab app sucks but they’ve confirmed TOS will be the same and available to all Schwab accounts after the TDA move.

The first time I logged into my new Schwab account, I found the cost basis of my ETFs.

I have multiple accounts. To get there, I click on the specific account. Then click on the figure under "Cost Basis" column. Up pops all of my trades with same details I would get at TD Ameritrade.

I'm saying I had at least a decade of so of transactions. They didn't pull them all over. They went back less than a year. So most of the transfers were with just "shares in." With no real cost basis.

This Schwab transfer completely sucks. It wouldn't surprise me if they lost 50% of the TD Ameritrade accounts due to this transition.

I had Schwab before with a company 401k. It was okay, but rebalancing was stupid, and the fees were high so I already had a grudge against them especially when I rolled it over to an IRA. I'm going to see how it goes for a little bit, but may be looking to move in the next few quarters.

This.^^^

Think or Swim is the primary reason Schwab wanted TDA. If TOS was in danger of being changed, I’d have taken one of the generous bonus offers and already be moving to TastyTrade or Interactive Brokers.

Once I was moved to Schwab it was awful. I rolled everything over to fidelity.

I'm trying to get used to it. It's not horrible but not as good. Finding the order status was somewhat of a chore after putting limit orders in.

Yes I can not access past TDA statements under Schwab. I wish I saved end of year ones under a pdf file.

yeah my solo401k just switched to schwab. not a fan of the interface at all. seems like crap from the 90's. might bail. already have vanguard. any others other than fidelity worth a shite? might just throw it in e-trade and use on futures.

Td was easy and awesome, I hate Schwab. Probably going to switch to Fidelity, seems to be the consensus

Can't talk about mobile apps, but to suggest that Schwab's platforms are sh!tty is a joke. They acquired Think or Swim - which Fidelity has nothing that would compare. And Schwab's StreetSmartEdge desktop product is far superior to Active Trader Pro. Schwab's support is better than Fidelity's too.

Just transfer. But, before doing it, I would open an account at Fidelity and look around. It will probably depend on what you do (trade-options-long term investing), and whether you use their (non) mobile applications.

Both Schwab and Fidelity are good options, but it really does come down to how you invest. If / when Schwab phases out StreetSmartEdge could effect that decision. I'd ask them. But same for Fidelity with Active Trader Pro which is also older.
