I have made many, nothing too terrible. The worst was probably a whole life policy i purchased when i was fresh out of college from a buddy. I only paid $1600 in premiums before i became educated and realized i did not need it.

Things i envision others will say:

Large wedding

Boat

Expensive new car/truck

Pool

Front load mutual funds

Variable annuities

Extended warranties

Timeshare

Nothing big, but I’ve often regretted buying a cheaper version of something. The cheap model ends up costing more because I buy the quality model a year or so later and give or throw away the cheap one.

Likely the dumbest is my boat but I have not regretted it one second.

Likely the wisest was an engagement/wedding ring but I have regretted it many times.

Often specifically when it comes to my boat.

I did that also. Fortunately it was only a $500 investment (now loss) from poker winnings. Maybe one day it will go back up to even.

Yep. This is a hard lesson to learn. As the saying goes, buy quality products and take good care of them and they will last. What helps a lot is all the online reviews at our disposal now... any time I'm on the fence about buying a cheap thing, I peruse all the 1 star reviews that warn it will break and I suck it up and buy the more reliable version

f no. love mine. used it heavily for 20 years. never bought it as an "investment" but solely as a vacation property. was a steal when i see what people are paying now for similar accommodations.

Yeti cooler for almost $400....

what a waste and a $20 coleman would've done the exact same.

Should've been hit in the head for spending that on a damn cooler.

Or

$500 for 30 minutes with a stripper on Bourbon... didn't even get my dick touched.

My first house. It was a brand new development, no character whatsoever, houses on top of each other. Sold it 4 years later for 500 more than i paid and lost about 5k in fees.

My last two houses were older and fixer uppers. The first one I sold for 100k more than I bought and the current one appraises for about 180k more than we paid, put about 90k in.

Be patient.

Go back to the first couple pages of that thread - we always looked at it as a longer play (a year or so from when that thread started back in September), and I’ve never waivered from that. Give it through the end of Q2 and see where they’re at.
