Hope this doesn't turn out like Bo Pelini 2.0. So much time passed between his first stint and his second, that his defenses didn't work against more modern spread offenses. I think Aranda has been keeping up with the times more tho.

Ehhh, it was the Covid year. Everybody should get a pass. He had to go but to say the game passed him by? Idk

Does lane and aranda have any connection? Curious if they ever worked together. I’d guess no off memory.

They faced as HCs in the Sugar Bowl for the 21 season. Baylor won 21-7 but Corral did get injured early in that game, but he wasn't playing well before the injury anyway.

They also faced as opposing OC/DC in the 2016 LSU/Bama game that was 0-0 in the 4th quarter

Aranda's defenses have seemed to give Kiffin's offenses more trouble than most based on those games.

If he has decided he wants to be a coordinator and his family loves BR, then a Kiffin/Aranda pairing would certainly set us up for perpetual success if/when either of the two young coordinators leave.

Kiffin is an offensive genius and Aranda is that on D.

FYI Baylor is tied with LSU for 2nd in CFB with 34 sacks. They're also 12th in points allowed with 15.3. LSU is 16th with 16.0.

Looks like Aranda still has it as a defensive mind.

PPG for Baylor's opponents this season not including the Baylor game and non-FBS teams.. Baylor game points are in parenthesis. Baylor held every team, except TCU below their season average.

Auburn - 24.13 (17)
Louisiana Tech - 27 (19) did not include Northwestern St.
Colorado - 17.16 (13) did not include Weber St.
Arizona State - 24.5 (19) did not include Morgan St.
TCU - 16.6 (17) did not include Grambling.
Kansas - 27.3 (25) did not include Long Island

I think it's a smart move. Lane is taking a page from Nick's playbook on fired coaches who were great assistants.

ignorant. . bo wanted to keep the 3-4 aranda had left. O said no. no spring. covid. blm. and players admittedly quitting on defense. all those factors played a role in what happened. you can toss that whole year out.

the 3-4 aranda

I wonder what effect this will have as an analyst. What input will he have?

Also, if he becomes the DC if Baker leaves, does he go back to the 3-4? Does the current makeup of the roster allow him to make that adjustment quickly or will he have to revamp the roster on the defensive side?
