2019 was too much fun to change 1 second of that season.

Of course. We were so close in the years that followed 2011. A 2011 NC would have lifted LSU and may have made the small bit of difference we needed to create a dynasty. The recruiting advantage the 2019 NC generated was killed before the 2020 season ended.

I would have liked for god to make things right. Bama should have never been in that game. You can’t win your own division much less conference you don’t deserve a shot. Plus you lost to the team at home. frick

This.

If they were so good and we beat them, on the road, (which we did) that win should've counted for more than it did.

I don't care if the next team in line will get trounced, bring in the next team in line.

You don't win the division, let alone the conference but sure, let's put you in the national championship game. Ridiculous.

Some of you fans, have forgotten how Miles coached our teams to be mediocre in our SEC games, because we often had to pull out a win in 4th quarter regardless of LSU’superior talent over the sec rival. It was always a fight and a struggle it seemed to pull out a win. We never just went out and beat the other team convincingly and without question we were going to win. That’s one reason 2019 was so special we knew how good they were, the players knew they were good and they intended and accomplished what they intended to do at beginning of season. I don’t want Miles a day after he lost 2011 games NC in the decisions he made to cripple our team knowing Jared Lee could have won it. Why wouldn’t he try Lee at any point for some momentum. (Like Saban took ou Hurts and put in Tua and won)Bama was not a bit better than LSUwith Lee at QB. I remember Herbstreit and crew thought that NC should have been shared.

To be fair, Lee was thrown into the fire before he was ready because Perrilloux kept getting into off campus issues and Miles kicked him off the team. Perrilloux was the heir apparent after Flynn. Lee was the next one in line in 2008 and he threw a bunch of interceptions that year and wasn't ready.

It wasn't fair to Lee but at the same time, you can't let that behavior go on.

I think that's where Miles got gun shy with the QB position because it was always the same thing. He turned to Jefferson and then it wasn't a surprise of what to expect. The game plan never changed.

Throw in the 2012 home loss and you've got yourself a deal

Back to back natties with full steam ahead

Plus, Saban likely sees the writing on the wall and leverages his two rings at two schools into a lucrative deal to become the HC at Texas

I mean in a perfect world we would have won both but obviously that didn't happen. So even though I still wish we would have won the Championship in 2011 the loss actually made 2019 all the more special.

Who is Jared Lee? Maybe he could have helped hard to say since we never saw him play. In the Nov game Jarrett Lee was 3 for 7 with 2 picks. 1 of which was returned to the to the 2 yard line but was called back for a block in the back and they wound up with a FG.

Because in 4 games against Bama in his career he was dreadful. He was an avg at best college QB. This fantasy that somehow he could have come in and saved the day is just wishful thinking. Look at the 2009 SECCG, Bama shut down Florida and Tebow with basically the same defense only they were younger. Now if they held Tebow to 13 points do you really think Jarrett freaking Lee was going to save the day?

Tua was a true freshman 5* recruit who hadn’t played outside of a little garbage time. He was a Heisman finalist and top 5 pick. Lee had played in 4 games against Bama, he wasn’t going to surprise anyone

I said at the time the kindest thing that Miles ever did to Lee was not put him in that game. It turned him from an average at best qb into an LSU legend.

Should he have put in Lee or mettenberger? Absolutely.

The likelihood that it changes the outcome in any positive manner is near zero.

As it is he created a fantasy in some fans minds of Jarrett Lee coming in to save the day which can’t be disproven. It’s like uncle Rico.

If miles would’ve won another NC , hed be nearly impossible to fire and he’d probably still be here. Running jaden daniels option to the short side if the field…

I always love this mentality, we’re glad the coach didn’t win the national title because we’d have to keep him
However if the program continued to stagnate he would not have lasted especially after Woodward was hired.

Oh and Daniels was recruited by Brian Kelly so he wouldn’t be here if Miles was still here.

Actually a very complicated question. I’m taking 2019. But, this is not simple. Miles getting two in a year on Saban with their comparative models might have put LSU even better set going forward. The Bama dynasty gets sliced. Miles does not get fired when he did if he has two ships. So many moving parts

Think about this…LSU wins in New Orleans AND wins the 2012 nail biter against Bama, that’s 3 straight vs Saban AND back to back NCs. Alabama is the LONE reason LSU didn’t go back to back in ‘11 and ‘12. Maybe not the lone reason…Les deserves a lot of blame.

At the end of the day Saban is the GOAT, if you makes you feel better to blame Les for not being better than the I mean yes his offense was atrocious especially in the BCSCG, but Saban shut down Urban Meyer’s offense with Tebow in 2009.
