re: Thoughts on John Gruden?

Posted by LSUKAT on 11/19/25 at 5:22 pm to
He is my 1st choice over Kiffen. Kiffen hasn’t won anything and was fired 3 times even Saban made him leave before NC game. Yes he is older and wiser but if NFL comes calling or somewhere else he’ll leave again no problem. And, I don’t think LSU even gave Jon Gruden any consideration. He is 53 was a QB and QB’s are his specialty w/offense and would have come for a lot less than $13Million. He won Super Bowl in 2003 with Tampa Bay Bucs. And I trust him more than anyone except for Joe Brady.
Texas A&M players made LSU players look worse than I have seen in decades against any other team in SEC.
Many teams have less than perfect Offensive Linemen, but the QB has to make adjustments for the Offense to be successful. I know this is a pro team but Joe Burrow has never had a OL at Cincinnati Bengals, yet he developed strengths of quick reads, and releases, stayed in pocket until he could either run for yards or left the pocket and found a receiver on the run. Our QB doesn’t have that quickness, critical thinking nor ability to make ANY positive adjustments and refuses to run. His callousness in his playing and how he never seems to have any emotion for what he just left on the failed drive he caused. No anger, no frustration, never on sidelines looking for answers with the coaches in headphones. Burrow was always conferred with His coaches during game on what he could do better or what he missed or anything. No emotion ?? in his demeanor which relates to it is what it is not my fault.

No they won’t because Kelly doesn’t want to take the heat from Nussmeier’s dad DC at NO Saints, and others behind nussmeier being a Heisman type QB. I doubted all the preseason hype.

Kelly has zero charisma and the recruiting of the top 5 stars that he fails to sign or sign and then leaves for another program that hasn’t seen a National playoff or Championship in decades. He is not a SEC caliber coach unless he finds a personal assistant that handles his shortcomings with recruiting. And he refuses to admit Nussmeier has any shortcomings at QB and how it will be addressed. He can’t stand to take ownership of the product he puts in the field. Jayden Daniels senior year should have been a NC and he couldn’t even get get a half decent defensive product on field. I don’t know what LSU will do, but we need a QB now. And if they decide to fire him I would go get GRUDEN who wants to be in SEC and specifically said he would love to be at LSU. You wouldn’t even have to give Griden a big Contract $$$ because he wants a second chance at his coaching legacy. And if not him Dave ARANDA, brilliant and is a quality coach and better human being and has what it takes to to put the winning pieces around a program.

re: LSU - Arkansas winner

I have been having this feeling since yesterday that this is Arkansas and Dave Van Horn year to win. It will be possibly the least tough schedule in many many years at Omaha to win the CWS title. If Arky Gets past LSU who else stands in their way?
Can’t they share MVP EVans & Hernandez if either had not been in game we may not have won at all
I hate the kids have to do a double header back to back. Why wouldn’t they say play 9:00 AM & 6:00 PM
Does anyone have the link of the steal at home plate called out, but reversed. I want to share it with other fans that don’t watch the games. It was a great play
Thanks
What about the horrible Bama team gave us a beat down Nussmeier and whole team looked lifeless
The problem is is that most of the SEC schools, have comparable NIL numbers.
Texas A&M & Texas had the most NIL dollars in article I read. Surprisingly Clemson, Notre Dame and Ohio state and Michigan have that number and higher.
Yes a panel tonight said it’s about recognizing a Brand name vs what a lesser new kid on the block did in their actual season this year. So totally wrong in every way. So what’s to play for if your taking care of business and a bigger name brand will supersede your actual on field accomplishments.
I am all in on him buying the he’ll out of this class, as good as Kiffen did atleast.

re: Brian Kelly needs our money

Maybe donate a million each year BK to help insure you have the 4-5 Stars needed to win him a championship it’s a tax write off for him, I. That tax bracket a welcome one.
My hope is that when a school come in and buys out top player away from another school because Bowie asked him to and happens to be 2nd richest man in USA, something has to be done by lawmakers that make every school equal - and not about NIL money. Now they are buying a 5 star committed to BAMA I read today. This ruins the sport and take away fairness and equality. Lawmakers screw thing up worse than anyone in DC. This likely needs to be a BIG arse lawsuit court decision that I hope would be fair. Even Tom Brady was in the mix with our QB commit in Michigan.
It isn’t just Us. LSU brings us pride and joy and a happiness like no other. I feel the same joy with LSU Baseball, Gymnastics and Basketball ?? etc. It’s such a big part of who we are as we grew up at LSU and lived inside (weekly) the pomp, pagentry, Mike, the Golden Band from Tigerland, our cheerleaders and Golden girls, and yes the magic of our beautiful stadium and last but not least the best fans in college sports.
Congress really owns the gigantic screw up they caused with NIL. The Name Image & Likeness was originally thought to be negotiating with professionals and business to pay players to market, represent and be part of their team of influence. But saying schools too also could buy every player on the team without any limits per player was and is total insanity. Leave anything to Congress if you want more problems than solutions. Of course it is u realistic for universities (Academic Institutions) paying coaches multi millions per year and then paying g player even now more than the coach has officially insane. This why Saban left and if not fixed college football ?? will be destroyed completely. Two of the wealthiest Michigan fans in the US decided they wanted our QB and did it On one phone call with Underwood and his family. Now my son says Michigan and or other schools have basically taken away piece by piece our top recruiting class maybe in history day by day. How can this be acceptable, legal and ethical if there are no rules in place. With current rules or rather lack of rules our much loved college football ?? game is self destructing due to stupidity and insanity. Just like politicians are paid to win their office by Lobbyist, and in return Congress legislates on behalf of those who paid for their campaign (which is corruption) at its best. unfortunately this same theory is now taken over college football ??. OMG what is happening to us when Billionaires rule everything in our lives.
I agree! I am sick of watching our Educational Universities waste money on large contracts for long term just to pay them off to leave because they failed miserably. The contract of coaches should be shorter - 5 years at most and to have incentives for wins also signing class rankings, portal transfers, win per year, Even who they hire at OC& DC, if they fail at that -minus out from a contract in all of the above. Add to the contract how well the build or incentive schools NIL money. Sure the coach has power to incentivize increased wealth into players NIL cash. ?? Schools have been ripped off for over 2 Decades on this moronic thinking more cash paid to a coach equals number of wins and National Championships. This is making fools out of fans, universities, NIL contributors, other staff members who aren’t paid as well. We must have more money now in NIL than we pay a coach every damn year to watch them fail like most of them do. For proof, look at Florida’s buy outs since Meyer left, (4?) Auburn last 3 coaches (Freeze ?) Texas last 3 coaches, Texas A&M past 2 (Fisher biggest in history) LSU Miles, Orgeron and (Kelly ?). Tennessee 3-4 buyouts, Ole Miss (2) South Carolina (2) Add all those millions up and it’s overwhelming what smart universities have done to give away cash by rewarding failure. Do something different from this point forward. Failure to win alone should be a reason to find fault. This no fault clause is wide off the mark and invalid. We are now pre (college) pro team, money has to be spent on players not coaches who want to line their pockets and walk away Rick and happy with no guilt.

re: Is Kelly really that bad?

Posted by LSUKAT on 11/24/24 at 5:58 pm to
Honestly, I think he didn’t get great players from the fill in spots in portal. His fault. Also, he had to know Nussmeier’s extreme shortcomings and should have gotten a QB if nothing else to back up Injured QB. I don’t like the look on the sideline of him cursing the players in front of the world to see. Fine in the locker room. I think his OC for offense and Defense have all been terrible. Loosing Underwood is the nail in the coffin. The former players Leonard Fournette and Honey Badger were encouraging him to please come to LSU. Maybe some other arrangements could have been made, move his mom and siblings to Baton Rouge (paid for) to provide family, emotional security and a bit more money. That kid is going to be incredible. Now who is he Targeting for our QB for 2025 and can he save his class. Can LSU show cause to reduce his buy out. These contracts need to be better to protect the universities with player now making multi millions. How can this get any worse for college football - ?? NIL and buying out 10 year multimillion dollar contracts because a coach failed to do his job. I
I am so happy, watched a bit of the early game and they were within 12 points of catching up how exciting to come back and win in OT
