Hypothetically speaking, if Kelly were to get poached by Michigan and LSU brought Kiffin in...would that be an upgrade?

No. Kiffin is another Deion Sanders in that he makes the program all about him. He's a good play caller but never has shown to be any good at the other aspects that make a good/great coach.

As an Ole Miss fan, no I wouldn't want to swap Kelly and Kiffin.

Kiffin wouldn’t get this job. No big name AD and university will hire Kiffin frankly. He’s so toxic after his Saban stint he hasn’t even be considered for LSU, Alabama, A&M or Florida. That tells you everything.

Kelly is more stable, Kiffin higher upside.

I want a natty so yes.

Nah. He's a great offensive mind but his defenses always suck. Even in today's high scoring football, you at least have to field a decent defense to have a shot.

Michigan won that title because of their defense shutting down Washington.

You do realize Kiffin had stints in the NFL at Tenn and USC right? Upside? Ok

I wouldn't consider it a swap or an upgrade, but I think I would take Kiffin over most practical options. Kiffin would also crush it at LSU, IMO.

I truly don't think Kelly would leave LSU for Michigan. Not after what he's building here.

I would 100% not swap for kiffin straight up.

If Kelly leaves, I’d say kiffin should be placed somewhere around 5th in line.

I also don’t think Kelly is going anywhere.

Kiffin is nothing like Deion. First of all, he's proven to be a good coach that can win despite a talent disparity.

His personality might come through more than other coaches but he's not looking for the limelight like a guy who insists you call him Coach Prime.

To answer the original question, no, I would not trade Kelly for Kiffin. Kelly is a program builder. He's shown it through locking down the state in recruiting, winning consistently, an elite coaching staff that has local roots, and the list goes on.

BUT, in this fictitious scenario where Kelly leaves (which I don't think will happen), I actually do think Kiffin could win here. I think he's a good enough coach to compete with the talent that's here.

Kiffin would be a downgrade, but it's not something I would hate.

Not going to argue with you, or anyone on here, so this will be my only reply:

2015-2016 offenses at Bama were amazing, he followed that with...

FAU before Lane:
6-6
3-9
3-9
3-9 <--- most recent pre Lane

OM before Lane
5-7
6-6
5-7
4-8 <--- most recent pre Lane

Lane can recruit, Lane can run a tier 1 offense, Lane can manage a program. At LSU he would no doubt win a natty, all he would need is a top tier DC, which he would find because LSU... Lane would win some big games, and lose some others due to being a gambler. It is what it is.

Big Game Brian so far has done solid for us, hopefully it will continue. Buit to keep judging Lane for things that happened over a decade ago, come on... how different were you 10 years ago? We arent judging BK for not winning big games at ND because he couldnt get the best players due to their academic standing. So why are we judging Lane for decade old stints? Foolish.

I would not give up Kiffin for Kelly. Kelly cannot field a defense.

This is true. Kiffin didn’t get a snuff from LSU or Florida and Kiffin was heated. At least those were the reports…

Based off what? Please show me actual credible evidence of this. Because he had one decent year at Ole Miss? When the SEC West was in disarray? And I’m all honesty their season could have easily looked really bad because there were at least 4 games that were under a touchdown final score.

I bet you think Deon is a good coach too.

Kiffin is 48. Not sure what his long game is but he knows following Saban is a no-win situation.
