Simply because we have Kelly at Coach. The media, especially outside of Louisiana, thinks we are all stupid and love pointing out how stupid we are, while they are really mind controlled idiot following other mind controlled idiots. It even spills from the national idiots to the Louisiana idiots. Get a real job you pikes.

Football success is earned each year on the field, not simply given. Pre-season polls are sometimes laughable but somewhat meaningless, in the grand scheme of things.

Basically, it's a "what have you done lately" kind of thing. And LSU will find its' way to the top again, of that you can be sure. But it's time for folks to stop all the talk of no respect when we haven't done anything lately to have their respect... PERIOD!

It has nothing to do with politics.

It has EVERYTHING to do with the obscene amount of money we are paying him.

They predicted we would lose 5 or 6 games and now they are acting like they predicted 10 wins.

In the real world, this is not a big deal. It's only a big deal to them.

It was supposed to be close,a 3 pt. game, and it was. Without the Steam screwups, we win by 3+ just like the prediction. No big surprises and no big deal.

Another truth is that both teams suck at this time.

Yes 55-17 two years ago, but it was a LOT CLOSER than score reflected (should have been 24 with called back td in 2nd half). After that flood gates opened up

the score was 45-14 before Alabama ever even though about punting.
the flood gates opened with 15:00 remaining in 1st quarter.

the national media is scared shitless that if and when BK gets going LSU is primed for a run like Bama’s.

Why would they be scared of that?

If we didn't win the Natty 3 years ago, it wouldn't be a story. Our downfall the last 2 years was the headlines for the last 2 years. We have a whole new staff, and we lost a game, of course we're still going to make the headlines. If we would have won by 10, the media and all these fans would still be talking shite as if we should have won by 30. LSU will always have hype as we always have the talent. It's good to be the sleeping giant, so that one year we return to being dominate, everyone else can start crying again.

People watch practice and think they know anything on what we'll look like. There may be a legit handful of posters, and I'm literally talking 5 that might know what they're talking about. And these are not the ones with the largest post count.

Here is some historical points of time for context and to reflect upon given your post:

...searching for renewed relevence

Bring back the magic of Dinardeaux years (eventually petered out)

2000 Peach Bowl LSU started to look like a team with a future -- the sports news took notice. "Next Year, LSU should be ranked low teens"

What followed is root to answer your question

So regard it as a very positive thing about LSU's brand and reputation (that was not the case following the 1990s)

I think the point he/she is making with this post is the same people that picked us to only win 6 games this year, who picked us to not even to be ranked this year because of all the holes and culture changes we need to make, are all of a sudden acting like we are the best team in country and we lost to App State. Pretty much finding anyway possible to shite on Brian Kelly and LSU

its a big story only because of the following:

the coaches didnt have the team ready or have their shite together as far as coaching, time management, and play calling

the players werent ready or have their shite together as far as playing the game

special teams coaching and play looked like no one spend even 5 minutes practicing it

its way way more then just a loss, its how and why we lost that is the big story

why do we care about the national media? Just play and win games.

Ignore all the noise.

Why is Texas A&M relevant when they haven’t won a conference title in 24 years or a national title in 83 years?

Why is Notre Dame relevant even though they haven’t won a National title in 34 years, don’t play in a conference, and get destroyed in every big game they play in?

I was wondering why the ESPN headline story on Monday morning was, "Stunner in New Orleans!"

I never understood what that was all about.

The game was over until one team steps on their collective dick and fumbles on the 1 yard line. The other team that had been shite for 3/4 of the game then goes 99 yards to tie....holy shite they missed the XP.

I do not know about you, but I was fricking stunned.

It is because all of the media members and LSU fans that somehow overlooked the massive overhaul of the LSU football operation to instead predict LSU to be a sleeper or picked them to surprise and win 10 games are all butthurt because "Kelly" made them look stupid.

They looked stupid all on their own. LSU is a 7-5,8-4 team if they play well. Always were.
