Why don’t we wear our purple uniforms more often?

Why can’t we wear them sometimes for night games at home against SEC opponents instead of just out of conference opponents? I understand not wearing them in the day games because White is better in the heat but we should wear them a lot more. They look sharp and I think our players love wearing them too.

No thanks. I think part of the beauty of those unis is that we rarely wear them.

I like the purple jerseys, but the gold helmets and pants to go with them is incredibly amateurish.

I’m not saying always wear them at home night games but maybe one SEC opponent a year on top of our out of conference. I know some people don’t like them but I always have. I hope we can wear the alternate unis we wore in 2019 this year too with the purple tops and white pants with white helmet.

I don't mind the purple jerseys but I don't like them with the yellow helmets and pants.

Because when we wear them against opponents with a pulse, we tend to lose.

What’s LSU’s record in purple jersey’s? It’s got to be undefeated or close to it considering they only wear them once a season, against cakewalk opponents. Did they wear Purple against Troy?

I don't recall the uni's against Troy, but I do remember wearing purple jerseys for every home game when I was at LSU from 86 thru 91. We were stuck with purple jerseys until DiNardo challenged the NCAA and we got white at home again. So, I'd say our record in purple jerseys ain't exactly stellar.

All of those losses under Curly were in purple also.

Here's my understanding of the return of the white jerseys. Part of DiNardo's "Bring back the magic" plan was to get the NCAA to allow the home team to wear white. The rule change allowed the home team to wear white if the visiting team approved. There were a couple of schools (Vandy I remember) that rejected LSU's request. Eventually the NCAA changed the rule to where the home team dictated who wore white.

When Saban came, he felt it was disrespectful to the players from the purple jersey era to never wear purple. To honor those teams, he decided that white jerseys would be used for the first home game of the year and all SEC games. Purple jerseys would be used for all other non-conference games.

That’s not why we wear white.

Fabric color > Superstition

White jerseys wins those games
Half white and half purple likely a tie, at worst
