you’re naming extremely high population states and states who are fully obsessed with basketball

we are neither

That's kind of my point although Tennessee and Georgia are not that far ahead of us in population.

LA - 4.6m
GA - 11.2m
TN - 7.2m

Seems pretty significant to me. Metro Atlanta by itself has nearly 2m more people than Louisiana.

How many players were born in Louisiana and likely moved to Texas post Katrina? They may be from here, but they’ve called Texas home for almost all of their lives.

Orlando Woolridge was from Mansfield.

So 9 of the largest states, and Indiana, where Basketball is like a quasi-religion like hockey to Canada.

Either we go back in time and get James Naismith hooked on crawfish, or Louisiana needs to grow by 15 million people.

And yet Maine with less population than Louisiana produced the number one player in College. All of you seem to have missed the GREAT part in my original post.

Wow you can make a hell of a team out of that list. Especially your Biggs.

You make this long list and don’t include Robert Sacre? Sacrilege!

Bill Russell left LA at an early age and spent his school years in California, including two national championships at San Francisco. None of his basketball prowess had anything to do with Louisiana. Do you guys seriously want us to recruit mainly from Louisiana and not try to snag great players from other states and countries?

Yes you are right, which only supports my point that it isn't here. Everyone has missed my main point which is that Louisiana high school basketball is not on par with a lot of other places. And for those that say it is only a matter of population then how do you explain the incredible number of great football players that we produce?

So our next basketball coach should not be a local product who emphasizes recruiting in state. We need someone who can get players from anywhere, including overseas

Agreed

Houston had Rayvegas' own Mylik Wilson who played a huge role for them this season. Mylik went from ULL to Texas Tech to Houston. Never offered by LSU.

Well he was the 335 ranked player by 24/7 Composite coming out of high school.

The OP isn't as off-base as people are making him out to be. Louisiana high schools just have not been producing top 100-200 level players the past several years at any sort of regularity. On top of that, when they do have a premium player, they often lose them to an out of state developmental high school like Cenac going to Link Academy in Missouri. It's much harder to "keep" a local talent when they've already spent a year or more out of the state in HS.
