Legit question, why do you think a guy like Coach O doesn’t love LSU?

his own words.
both prior to being hired as an assistant at LSU and after being fired.

prior to being employed by LSU (while sitting in a High School stadium about an hour from LSU's campus) LA Times Article (2014)

quote:

He calls a teammate to bring him his sweatshirt, which he pulls over his head and wears for the rest of the game.

It’s a USC sweatshirt.

Orgeron’s voice drops to a pained whisper.

“That right there, that’s my family forever,”’ he says.

He’s not only talking about his son.

USC is his "family forever".

At around 7 a.m. on Dec. 2, two days after a dispiriting loss to a UCLA team with far more talent, Orgeron was informed by Athletic Director Pat Haden that he would not be retained as head coach. He was, however, offered a job as new Coach Steve Sarkisian’s top assistant, and a chance to continue coaching the Trojans through their appearance in the Las Vegas Bowl.

...

What happened next was pure Coach O, as unvarnished as the Cajun filé powder he sprinkles on his gumbo.

He returned to Room 112 at the Radisson Hotel — his cramped home for the previous four years — and he wept. He consulted with his wife Kelly. He wept some more. Two hours later, they made a decision that reverberates throughout Trojan nation still.

“My heart and soul were so empty, it was like being a father who is told you can’t have your children anymore,” Orgeron says.[/quote]

dude was crushed that he wasn't getting the HC job. "heart and soul were empty". even though he was still going to be on the staff.

quote:

“I will be a USC Trojan forever, and, I don’t know what they’re thinking, but the door to come back there is always open in my mind,” Orgeron says. “If the right situation comes up this year and they ask me to go back, I’d be more than happy to listen.”

Even though Sarkisian has struggled in his first season, losing much of the energy revived by Orgeron, he deserves a chance to find his footing, meaning there will be no head coaching opportunity there for Orgeron. But he says it doesn’t matter.

“I’d come back as an assistant,” he says. “I love the people there. I’m with my family now, but I miss my family there. I miss ‘em right now. In the belly.”

it's pretty clear from this article who Coach O loves. And it ain't LSU.

After being fired by LSU:

quote:

"What time do you want me to leave and what door do you want me out of, brother?"

It’s definitely overplayed.

Frank is washed. O was washed by the time he was shown the door.

No more old heads. Keep it young. Louisiana ties or not. People are going to want to play for LSU no matter who’s recruiting them.

Is this trolling or stupidity? The man has to make a living is he supposed to not continue his career because the new coach hires someone else to do his job?

Give me a break, dude.

It's not a troll or stupid content just because you're too stupid to understand it.

Make a living? Frank has millions of dollars by now. There should be no concern over money for him for the rest of his life if he has even half a brain when it comes to managing his money. Same goes for Ed Orgeron

Frank could have stayed at LSU in an off-field role
, but that's not what he wants. His ego wants an on-field position with more control.

Considering the fact that he's set for life financially, it seems to me that if he authentically loved LSU he would stay and help them in whatever way possible. He definitely would not go to perhaps our biggest rival and help them recruit against us immediately and help them do whatever possible to defeat LSU.

He's not a poor guy trying to support a family.

There’s nothing to understand about you simplistic question it’s either stupid or trolling.

I guess to someone like you that works as a WalMart greeter it would seem some that made over $1M a year is “set of life”. There’s taxes plus living expenses. You can be careful with money and still need income even with a seven figure salary. He’s also only 52. So maybe he wants to work.

He could have stayed at LSU but maybe he prefers coaching to taking a demotion. Sounds like you are spiteful with your speculation.

He’s not “set for life” O should be with his buy out alone. And as someone else mentioned 2 things can be true at the same time.

Again it’s hard to distinguish between trolling or just stupidity with this comment. He’s at a lesser program that had an opening at the position he prefers.

Look at Brian Kelly. He obviously didn't give a damn about LSU, just his bloated contract, yet there were people ready to defend him to the ends of the earth.

I don't know of anyone defending Kelly.

O didn't leave LSU of his own volition. Frank did.

O has done nothing but positively talk up LSU even after being fired, including talking it up to our current coach which most certainly had some sway in him coming here.

Everyone talks about Frank loving LSU so much but as soon as he didn’t receive the exact on-field role that he wanted he jetted and joined one of our biggest SEC rivals the next day without thinking twice about it.
I don't doubt Frank's love for LSU. You're a fool to do so.

But aside from that he likely has a greater love of touching the grass and coaching.

Honestly. Would you give up what you love the most and take a lesser role just to be at the school you love?

If you say yes, you're a liar.

Frank has made many millions during his coaching career. He has already made much more money than 99% of the population will ever make during their entire lifetimes. If he’s not set financially, then big-time shame on him.

Any half decent, responsible financial management over the last 20 years would have him set for life. I don’t feel sorry for him if he wasted millions of dollars already and needs to work longer to support himself. That would be pathetic.

Also, it’s hard to take this conversation seriously if you’re going to compare multi-millionaire coach salaries to a Walmart greeter trying to make ends meet.

Therefore, you’re the troll here for making that Walmart greeter comment, and I will not be responding to you any longer after this.

Peace

Yeah! How could a man love an institution, when after bringing them a National Championship, best team in NCAA History, Politicians destroyed his team, then fired him mid season.
In three years he built a national Champion, best team in history . His former players are setting NFL records.
His political replacement completely destroyed what he had built, and embarrassed us in 3rd rate Bowl.

Why to people claim they love LSU so much, when they will defend losers, Woody, Kelly, and attack a man who brought us a Championship?

Is it the Swamp Water, Chemicals in the water, or genetics?

I think for both it was a dream job. But the door has closed. Comments are made to gain leverage. You’re aren’t the acting HC and saying you hate the school. Coaches lie a lot. Don’t worry about what they say.

This is stupid. Orgeron grew up as as a white male playing football in a small town in south Louisiana in the 1960s-70s. It would be shocking if he DIDNT love LSU football.

I don't think some of you people understand how much of a south Louisiana kid's life was centered around LSU football in the pre-cablevision era. Every single boy in school had to have at least a passing understanding of the game and LSU. You might not watch the game of the week on TV, but you or your family was near a radio on Saturday night.
