Easy to say after the fact. We can all do that.

Sure. But we're not all being paid millions to keep LSU a top tier program. I'd expect orgeron to be far superior than me at making such decisions.

15 years ago with an absolutely loaded team, that had been coached by saban, muschamp, and smart. We should have won at least 1 more title in 05 or 06.
Also the game was much different. No tempo and no rpo, very little spread

Well...why is Aranda considered to be a god then?
All those defenses ranked ahead of LSU during his tenure...and after the era of 'no tempo and no rpo, very little spread'.
Aranda's defenses helped the Tigers have a winning record, but they were far from dominant.
Bo needs to get his shite together but the amount of Aranda dick sucking around here is laughable.

Bob Shoop - dominant defenses at Miss State.
Barry Odom - good DL as a DC

Both good available candidates.

I’m not sucking Arandas off. But he was the best defensive coach not named saban at this school. All you need to look at is the last 4 games of last year. Once we were healthy we played dominant defense. Look at the Lb’s he Developed: Jones, Riley, Beckwith, White, Queen.

You know what happened in football between 2007 and 2016?

The spread offense took over. Les was fired because he didn’t adjust to that offensively.

BTW, what’s Bo’s defense ranked in 2020?

Idiot

Guess what...the coach from 2009-2014 had more dominant defenses during "the spread offense takeover" than Aranda did.
So, what's your excuse now?

Literally anyone else. I’m sure someone at Catholic High could do better than Bo.

Looks like he is a DL coach by experience. What do we do with Johnson and Ogeron coaching DL and no one coaching LBs?

How many national championships did that produce?

Defense has changed due to scheme and rule changes. You have to play a smart, bend-but-don't-break style that is able to adapt. Dragging out a coordinator who had good defenses when the I was the dominant offensive formation isn't how you win in 2020.

What you're doing is the equivalent of star-watching in recruiting. Rankings are nice. Wins are what matter.

I would have probably made Venables say no (and, at the very least, get him a pay raise and extension at Clemson).

Then, Wiscy's Jim Leonhard.

I admit, I was happy with the hire at first. He did a good enough job when he was here before to parlay that into a head coaching job at Nebraska. I don't know who we could have gotten who had better credentials. The only thing I didn't like about him was that he is a hothead who yells at his players, but all we heard during the off season was how popular he was with the players. I am very surprised and disappointed that this turned out so badly.

I was hoping Muschamp was fired last year and we got him. He was my first choice.

My second choice would have been Odom. I thought he would have been solid. Kinda surprised he didn’t do better than Arky DC.I like former head coaches that recently coached in the sec as coordinators.

I also would have liked Leonard but don’t think he leaves Wisconsin.

It was easy before that too. Several of us called it out, but we were drowned out by the idiots just like with the Matt Canada hire. All these young innovative coaches and we get a guy who adds jet sweeps and end arounds as wrinkles to an offense you already ran. Another guy hasn't been a DC for a long time and whose teams were last giving up 40, 50, 60, and 70 point games in a single season when he was HC.
