Who do you think were the best LSU players by position in your lifetime?

Your lifetime being what you can remember watching. I’m judging them based on how good they were while playing for LSU. The first Tiger team I remember was the 03 title team. So that’s what I’ll use as my starting point.
QB- Russell
RB- Fournette
WR- Clayton
TE- Dickson I guess? Not a lot of options here
OL - Whitworth or Lael. Can’t decide
DT- Dorsey
DE- Spears
LB- D White
CB- Peterson edges TM7 for me. TM7 was the ultimate game changer so he’d be my pick for just a single defensive player but PP7 was a better corner imo
S- Adams/Landry/Delpit - I cant pick here either.

Robert Royal. This is not up for Debate.

I agree. I’ll even take it a step further.
TMs 2011 season was the best single season for any player in LSU history and maybe one of he best single seasons for a defensive player ever in college football.
But....
Since 2000 I can think of 5 guys from LSU who were better cornerbacks.
This isnt a knock on TM, like you said he’s the ultimate game changer. But other guys were better CORNERBACKS

Craig Steltz in 2007 was pretty boss
101 tackles 63 Solo 5 TFL 1 sack and 6 picks for 153 return yards.
How hensidnt start until his senior year is beyond me.

This must be nice. Didn't have to sit through the horror of the 80s and 90s. There were some good moments sprinkled in there.
Eta: As a couple people have pointed out, the 80s were pretty solid with a few bad years. I was remembering wrong.

QB Russell. I honestly don't see how this is close unless you're old enough for Bert Jones.
RB Alexander. He was awesome.
WR Wendell Davis. He won SEC Player of the Year. As a receiver.
TE LaFleur. Yeah, options are kind of limited. LaFleur could bring it.
OL Mawae. A personal choice I love Mawae and admit it might be entirely logical.
DT Dorsey. Maybe the best defensive player in LSU history.
DE Gabe Nothern. Moved to LB his senior year, but still holds the LSU season TFL record)
LB Devin White. Michael Brooks is a god, and for me to vote White ahead of him says everything.
CB Peterson. A pro player masquerading as a college student.
S Delpit. Already. There's been an embarrassment of talent recently.

I know Fournette's the greatest RB but I used to love watching Dalton Hilliard run and make people miss. So much fun to watch, he was so shifty...
I watched Bert Jones split time at QB his first 2 years.
1970
Buddy Lee* QB 85 Cmp, 161 Att, 1344 Yds, 6 TD
Bert Jones QB 57 Cmp, 109 Att, 909 Yds, 5 TD
--------------------------------------------------------
1971
Bert Jones* QB 66 Cmp, 119 Att, 945 Yds, 9 TD
Paul Lyons QB 57 Cmp, 122 Att, 817 Yds, 11 TD

Jack Hunt is the greatest LSU player of all time at both DB and WR. His blue Grass mirracle grab put him at the top of both list.

Dorsey was great his senior season. I'll go with a name that no one brings up but has had the best pro career ever of any DL at LSU and that is Kyle Williams

quote:I’d take Ro, Jones, and Hodson. Jamarcus wasn’t consistent till late in his junior year, when we found out we coukd just throw deep to our 3 pro receivers every play. Didn’t beat out Randle and lost every critical game he played in.
QB Russell

QB - Russell
RB - fournette
FB - hester
Te - lafleur
WR - Reed, Landry
OL - Whitworth, Faneca, Mawae, Turner, Collins (figured why not make a starting 5)
I'd have to think about defense. So many great players just recently.

Two trips to the Sugar Bowl, an Orange Bowl and two SEC Championships was “horror?”
What would you call the 2010’s?
