Every single team that is a serious contender has turned over AT LEAST 25% of their roster.

This isn't something that just affects LSU. Everyone is hiring mercenaries and screwing with team chemistry.

I happen to believe Kiiffin will be one of the best at it.

Still not much of a sample size for this new era of transfer portal and NIL to know what a championship recipe looks like
there kind of is though. You need a pretty senior laden team with lots of experience. A QB who has multiple years of experience starting. And a defense who can get some stops when needed.

No, I don’t. But I also don’t believe that bringing in the #1 class is an automatic translation to a NC.

Well yeah there is a season to play that most of us are pretty excited for.

The coach that brought them in… last year’s class was wasted with Joe Sloan.

You know I told my OM buddies how hard it is get a bunch new players to gel and play as a team the 2 years OM seemingly replaced the majority of their team through the portal with Lane at the helm. Somehow he did it both years so he seems to be able to get a team to gel quickly and make the pieces work.

I have way more confidence in Lane making it work than the previous staff, or any other staff do that matter.

Correction Spider-Man, this one does translate to a NC CONTENDER.

Well for one take a look at Lane’s most recent Ole Miss team. Insane roster turnover last season and they managed to make the final 4.

This year we're going to try that "coaching" thing. Seems a little gimmicky but, what the hell, give it a shot.

Besides all the obvious things mentioned like superior coaching… one indication I find interesting from a numbers standpoint:

Per 247 portal rankings, last year’s LSU class was #1 with a score of 70.94, #2 was Texas Tech at 69.47, a difference of 1.47 points.

This year’s LSU class is #1 with a score of 87.82, #2 is Ole Miss at 63.80, a difference of 24.02 points. The difference between the teams from 2-10 is 15.30 points.

This year’s class is #JustDifferent.

I like how a legitimate question gets 75% down votes. This place is a microcosm of post gen X douchebags and the current internet as a whole

Sir, this is the rant. Every player coming in is a future all american, diamond in the rough type player. Every player that leaves LSU is a bum that was overhyped. Rinse and repeat every year.

Probably that we have backup QBs that can still move the ball in Kiffin offense.

Sam gets hurt we will be alright.

And then rushers that can get to the QB without blitzing.

Also no more Perkins helps and weeks back at full strength.

Lastly, experience.

To be fair that’s most team’s fans. Case in point, OM fans. It’s a human nature thing, not unique to LSU.

This year is different, and far superior, because Brian Kelly is gone!

Total bust?

The defensive transfers seemed to hit pretty well, especially those in the secondary. I know Pyburn and Peyton weren’t elite edge rushers but they certainly set the edge well.

Moore is our starting center again and it was clear the O-Line greatly missed him 100% healthy.

The major difference between these 2 classes is that along the lines of scrimmage we picked up solid depth AND elite players at positions of need.

The biggest difference, we will have superior coaching on the offensive side of the ball compared to whatever the hell we had last year.

First, this year's portal class is 40...last year's 18. I actually think last year's secondary class will probably prove to be better than this year's. However, Edge rusher from Ole Miss is far superior on paper to anyone from last year's class. 3 good QBs this class...subpar Van Buren last class. And where was the OT from last year's portal class...oh yeah, Kelly only signed 2 guard and center guys although Moore was a great signing.
