This is true. Happy to see these guys do it. Have a feeling the success was related to the level of talent we were facing but hope they prove me wrong tonight.
0-1. 2 weeks ago I asked myself the same question about the UGA and UF series. Then we went 0-6. We will but up 8-4 on Oklahoma at some point around the 5th and then Schmidt will hit a 100 pitch count, and Jay will start going to the pen. We will then get shelled and lose 11-8.
Except that he was talking about the offense and the offense has played well for the last month.

We’re giving up at least 2 this inning aren’t we?

He was out by a mile on TV. Wasn’t even close.

Just imagine what this game would look like with a bullpen.

Yea this is what happen when you combine the shitty bullpen with bad luck. So many “at-‘em” balls this year I’ve lost track and then key injuries.

Just straight up laziness there. Move the feet and that’s an easy block. Could’ve saved a run.

It really feels like this team is paying back karmic debt for last season when we came through so many times.

Yorke’s was a ball. Pretty clear. Simpson took a hitters pitch.

Don’t want to pile it on but I cannot imagine how embarrassing that is for a pitcher. A lead off grand slam as the starter and you leave the bases loaded with two outs after starting. I never pitched at a level worth any shite but I can’t recall a start that bad.
Pearson had a lot of bad luck. He’s probably a .250ish SEC hitter with good power. Ruckert had a lot of growing pains and has trended up much better at the end of the season. I would be comfortable with him at second. Patrick I’ve not seen anything from other than one clutch hit against MSST. Good kid, but he’s maybe a 9 hole hitter I could plug in left field if the rest of our lineup is nails.

Need two outfielders and a SS in the portal unless Ruckert moves to short and you grab a 2B in the portal. I think you really only need 3 starters in the portal, which can let you really spend to bring in some studs.

Pitching is by far the biggest need for improvement. Need a lot of arms in relief.
Look at Jim Smith’s records in the 60s and 70s. In 1978 he went 12-34. Good years in there too, but this is the toughest the SEC has ever been and we’ll end around .500.

The conference has never been more competitive than it is now because of the portal and NiL. Georgia’s roster is full of experienced transfers on the mound and in the lineup just as one example. I would say a freshman weekend starter will be even more rare than it was, but maybe possible. We do have a freshman batting 2 and hitting like 330 in conference play.
Yes that i don’t give a shite about winning the SEC if we win the title.
