Nothing yet. They look good on paper, but they have to produce. Do we have better coaching? It seems like it. Just remember, we paid these kids to come here. Do they have the passion to be great, or just get a check?

You do realize #1 is relatively to the given year, right?

The two rankings have no relationship to each other, only relative to the other classes in that year.

You must not read this board!

Everyone pays kids to come to their school

LSU football has been paying kids to come here since the 80s

His ability to get top shelf qbs and got top level offensive personel. He totally upgraded LSU to be where they should have been all this time. Now its time to bring the chemistry together. This is the main difference.

Defense is 2.0 again getting good players.

You obviously misread my post. It was a question, not an analysis.

I don’t live or die with LSU sports so I pretty much always enjoy.

The answer. Specifically offensive coaching.

Defense was solid so portal haul there was justified. Offense was trash but not untalented. TBD how outbound o line transfers pan out. That’ll tell the tale of how bad Sloan/Davis really were.

But last year's class didn't attempt to address our biggest question mark which was the offensive line. Moore was the only quality addition and we needed several. Also the edge rushers we brought in last year were ranked on potential only, not on any superior jobs they had done at previous schools. So yes I believe this class is much better overall even with bringing in an All American last year in Delane.

The portal class had some excellent players. It wasn’t a “bust”.

Bro, 7-6 is a total bust.

Nothing in sports is assured. What makes it better? They have more top end talent, as well as depth throughout this class, as opposed to last year. you say last year's class was a bust, but we spent a great deal of that portal trying to fix the defense. The defense was much better, but got hung out to dry by the other side of the ball.

This class focused on both sides. And we finally look to have a solid offensive line, with the most important (LT) locked down. And, we have a coaching staff now that knows how to scheme an offense, even with lesser front end talent, and who actually appear committed to winning, and not just collecting a paycheck.

If you want guarantees, I don't have them for you. If you want to know why the optimism is high, I don't know what else you need than the above statements.

If you believe a solid culture is overblown then you will never be a part of a winning chemistry.

No where near the level of cash these guys are getting today. Many players as late as just 10 years ago were getting a few thousand a month or help for their family. Not million dollar contracts. It’s a completely different world now post 2019-2020.

The difference is that the head coach actually gives a shite. That along should get us 2 more wins.

Coaching & having a system and knowing what fits

Going from Jayden Daniels to Nussmeier is a prime example of the ineptitude and not having a plan. Promoting Sloan so you could get Underwood was such a huge blunder.

The 2009 class was #1 I believe. Or it was close with Bama.

But this is far better when you consider the amount of proven players. And we got the #1 and #6 QB. That’s wild.

Again, you arent building the same "culture" when you have guys for 3-4-5 years vs. Taking a ton of 1-2 mercenaries. I'm not saying one doesn't exist, im saying it's an entirely different view now than it was pre-portal. Guys want money and success (personal and team), a lot of the other stuff doesn't matter to a number of players any more
