Like most folks here I don’t feel we can get to 13 SEC wins. If we were somehow able to do so, however, we’d likely still need to win 3 or 4 ballgames in the SEC Tournament just to be on the bubble.

So a team with a .333 winning percentage that can barely get by Southland teams is going to suddenly go 7-5?

Yes, possibly.

It’s very simple really.
LSU has to play with nothing to lose, play loose and win 2 in Starkville. If they do not, the season is over unless they win the SEC tournament.
Season is on a case by case basis every game going forward.

The current projection shows us at RPI 54 with a 12-18 record in the SEC, 32-24 overall, with the following wins and losses. A second win at Mississippi State will do a lot for our RPI. A single win at Georgia would go even further. All of that hinges on sweeping South Carolina.

I still think 13 gets us in, but I can see why it might not without a couple of SEC Tournament wins. 14 would be better. I am not sure LSU can do it, though.

@ Mississippi State 1-2

vsSoutheastern Louisiana W

vs South Carolina 3-0 (sweep)

vs Tulane W

@ Georgia 0-3

vs Florida 2-1

SEC teams especially LSU are held to. Higher standard by the committee. No way 13 gets them in

Does college baseball have a NIT? That's the only tournament this team will make.

Where those 7 coming from?

I don't think 13 get's it done and it is tough but not impossible...

1 from State
3 from USCe
1 from UGA
go into the final weekend at The Box needing 2 wins against UF...not likely but not out of the question.

There are 7 wins to be had...but things would need to change significantly to get them.

Was talking about this with a LSU friend. Where would the RPI be with 13 wins, and where does the rpi need to be? In the past 13 wins gets you in, but the RPI was always sub 40. Warren Nolan has LSU predicted wins to be at 12. 12-18 and 54 RPI. With 1 more win where does the RPI go to? Going 4 out of 6 at MSU and UGA would be huge for the RPI.

I think the magic number is 14. 4 out of 6 against MSU and UGA, sweep USC and take 1 from Florida will get you in.

Post season baseball is better with LSU in it

Two out of three ain't bad, but it would be more possible (not likely) vs Florida than Georgia. That Georgia team is a force to be reckond with, esp in Athens. They're like A&M and playing at a stellar level now

Agree it would be more possible, I was looking at the RPI side of it. Winning away games vs top 20 RPI would really jump you up.

SEC Tournament would need you to play and win a game or two against top 10 RPI teams.

Seasons over. Too many injuries and bad recruiting. The team just wants this shite over with.

Anything can happen in the SEC tourney. There's precedent for LSU, and that goes back to 2010 when the Tigers were reeling in SEC play, having lost 5 of their last 6 series that year. The team did win four games in four days in the tourney, capturing the SEC title and then traveling to UCLA (I believe they were #1 at the time) for a regional.

I think we need a 2008 type run to get us in.

This is one of those things we shouldnt get excited about

If they get off their arse and make it, good.

But im not holding my breath, nor will I be impressed by anything.

We have expectations, get on with it or give up your NIL money and get out.

It will not, not with our RPI

There's actually a decent chance 14 wins wouldnt get us in, despite that always getting SEC teams in

Fact is our RPI will be substantially worse than these previous 13-14 win SEC teams have been that have gotten in.

Warren nolan has our predicted RPI at 54 if we land at 12-18 SEC....13-14 SEC wins isnt going to get us into the 30s. They have us beating both Tulane and SELA as well mid-week. What they arent projecting is SECT at all and the impact that will have.
