first of many of these cases with players getting paid what they are getting paid

Our choices were a guy with one foot and a guy hopelessly addicted to gambling that could get banned.

There has to be some sort of clause in the contract he signed for situations like this. They shelled out what, $5 mil for him? I imagine their lawyers are working on voiding that since he won't be playing this season.

They say that back in the 70s, Woody Hayes had these brutal 3 a days. Tougher than Navy Seal training. Art Schlichter was so addicted to gambling that he’d go to the track every day and play the daily double while his teammates slept/rested.

Texas Tech transfer quarterback Brendan Sorsby is checking into a residential treatment program for a gambling addiction. He’s under NCAA investigation in the wake of the discovery of Sorsby making thousands of bets via a gambling app.

This dude fleeced Texas Tech. Got 5 million+ guaranteed too. These NIL deals are worse than pro contracts because at least with pro contracts they have outs to pay a situation like this 0.
It makes you wonder if they were smart enough to put this in the NIL deal. I'm going to guess no which would make it even funnier. I'm only saying this because NIL is still new for everyone. Situations like this are coming up so they have to be more aware. These are not officially pay to play contracts so the question is were they smart?
What makes it obvious they don't always have outs is you have universities making a stink about players doing stuff so when they bolt elsewhere they threaten to sue or try to jail them into their NIL deal like Washington did.
I'm sure you have some smart ones who put wording in that gets out of this but it's clear not all are smart enough to do this otherwise they wouldn't be jailing players into deals or suing. They would simply mutually agree to part.

Wondering if the fbi gets involved.
If he was placing bets at a freshman, he was underage, so it's likely, but we have seen those types of things go away before. At LSU in one instance too, if memory serves me correctly.

Residential treatment?
What do they do? Take away his phone so he can’t log in to Draft Kings?

I would imagine address it via therapy like any other addiction. Could be to soften the punishment since he's "proactively" addressing it

Residential treatment?
His girlfriend can have conjugal visits residentially, not in an asylum.

lol high chance he won’t be eligible if the NCAA finds anything worth pinning on him
If that happens, I assume he will have to pay TT back all that NIL money?

THANK GOD he chose Tech. That’s the last thing we need lol.
Posted on 4/27/26 at 1:16 pm to LSUAce007
but did he already pocket his NIL money??? If so, I doubt that can be clawed back, unless it's paid out over time.

I always wanted Leavitt instead of him.
