The defense imo should be terrific. Granted guys like Payton, Delane, gooden and haulcy will be gone but we have a lot of young talent like Pickett , woodland , spears breaux and Dom. Along with some young pups who should have bigger year 2 roles in Zion Williams , Mathis, the freshmen lbs in Ross , braiker, and keylan Moses. This is also the most talented Dline class we’ve arguably ever had coming guys like Anderson , brown and Geralds are day 1 impact good.

If Kiffin is able to work his portal magic along with developing the young talent we have in Francis , Treydez green , berry and the young lineman, we are in for an exciting year 1 in the Kiffin era

It’s really not that crazy to see us get into the top 10 next year

I mean with a coherent offense, we are there this year. Defensive leadership is still in place.

We have a LOT to replace on defense. It's going to take more than an offensive rebuild.

People forget, this was an all in year with a ton of upper classmen at the end of their eligibility or last year before they go pro.

FWIW I think you're right, but we have to reload on defense too. And I wouldn't use the word "expect", this is a crazy sport.

ETA: Gooden, Guillory, Butler, Pyburn, Payton, West & Whit Weeks, Perkins, Delane, Halucy all gone. That's like what 80-90% of our defensive production right there???

All starts with the O Line.

Fix that and the sky is the limit.

We would need to hit on several key portal pieces. I don’t think expecting it is reasonable. But I do think it’s plausible if the portal class is good.

I just want us to be good again. Take out a team we “shouldn’t,” take out the teams we should, and execute well and keep it close even during the inevitable losses. I’ll be happy with that next year and then we can talk playoffs. If we end up ahead of schedule, awesome, so much the better!

The talent was largely there but the coaching wasn’t. We fixed that part.

You’re returning a great young core on defense: (Pickett, Woodland, Weeks, Spears, and the young pups at Linebacker)

You’ve got Trey’Dez and Berry as two building blocks on offense, go get an Offensive Line and a QB and let’s see where this goes n

Valid for sure we are losing a good bit of pieces on that side as well. I think the defensive recrutiing tho has been strong we have a lot of talent coming in , our underclassmen are very talented too. We’re actually in position on that side of the ball to reload. Guys like Delane and haulcy will be replaced by guys ready to have breakout years in spears and dj Pickett

I mean we certainly have guys and 2s getting reps, but we're still losing a lot too on defense. We will need guys to step up and transfers to hit.

Hopefully we can keep Cooley.

I agree, but I would add we need a significant upgrade at QB and a few new weapons as well.

Wholeheartedly agree. The young talent is there on both sides. Put good coaching shins that and add some portal depth and we will be in position to be a damn good team

Lane and his coaches/offense will likely turn Trey'dez Green into the player he should be, make Kyle Parker a star with the slant game, make our RBs/ running game MUCH better with the play calling alone, etc.

We need a ton of work on the O-line though and probably need some other WRs and more depth at RB. We will need some key replacements on D, but the secondary should be good regardless.

A lot depends on who we get at QB out of the portal. Can drastically change an offense with the play calling we will have.

We will have more talent throughout the offense and defense than Ole Miss had this year

I think we’re at a really good spot guard. Simply move curne back there , further develop Echols and a healthy Solomon Thomas is a good interior situation. You have a chance to be solid at LT if Tyree Adams returns and continues developing. RT Is interesting.

I think you have a good player in Ory Williams has great size and good athleticism he badly outperformed weston Davis , Bryson Martinez also should be coming in he has great athleticism. Center should we need more bodies. We’re in good shape if Moore returns but need more depth behind him can’t rely on guys like Chester to play there.

They have a ton to replace and a ton up in the air. Most of the starters on defense are gone. You don't really know what you have at o line.

Receiver needs a couple of guys. Don't have a qb

we do have a bit of a monster schedule so ill be forgiving if we dont make the playoffs year 1, but BK made the sec championship year 1 so in my book that would go down as the more surprising of the two

It'll be the expectation year in and year out. He knows that, we know that. We can easily be a top 12 team each year. Now it's always up to the committee to vote us in. A lot of 0's in that paycheck for anything less.
