One of the funnier ones:

quote:

VCU fans: we have a great program, we own the magic, we can survive through any coaching change!

Will Wade: "Hold my beer..."

To be fair, I can sympathize with them. They look at a A-10 rival like Dayton and see Archie Miller remain year after year despite the big schools coming after him. Really kind of the same as Marshal at WSU and Few at Gonzaga.

VCU has been a very good, consistent, mid-major program. Yet, their coaches are constantly taken by bigger schools. This one stings for them because they see Wade leaving a good job at a basketball school to go to a place where they think (probably correctly) most of the fanbase really only cares about football

VCU has already hired a new coach. Mike Rhoades from Rice University.

This tells me this was all in process for a while now.

I wonder what School snatches him up in a few years.

I like that we have to play VCU in a home and home within 3 years of his resignation. If we want out we have to pay 250k. I feel like that would be a good home and home.

They'll keep rolling. Another Shaka Smart assistant running that system.

I absolutely love the home and home. I'm going to try and go to both games, maybe even get some friends to come for the game here.
Would be my first visit to the Siegel Center, as a visiting fan.

Football would be a stretch due to the amount of players on the team. To be fair, basketball would be a lot easier, as you only need to find a couple.
Duke finds enough players for basketball that sort of meet the criteria, and Georgetown in the 80's, I swear, used to have a waiver.

I think your all not realizing is that Harvard (every Ivy League school) does not offer athletic scholarships.
While Harvard is one of the most inexpensive schools to attend other than maybe Stanford it would still be hard to compete without scholarships to offer.

If we do play them in Richmond, I might even try to get down there for it.

Expect SRO, VCU sells out every game I think. Granted it's not the biggest arena, but it's nice.

I realize that, and also realize that if they so chose, they could decide to give scholarships out for sports.

Heck, if they focused on basketball and decided to push a "business- How to manage your impending multi-million dollar income" curriculum, they'd be a big draw to the elite NBA prospects; assuming, of course, that the players' personal advisor/leeches don't try to steer them away from that

Because I'm certain the first week's classes would be: get rid of Uncle Bob, he isn't your friend or really even related to you, he just wants to milk your potential earnings.

I haven't followed VCU that close in the last two years, but I love it. For one, it shows "Want" from LSU. His team's will also fight, and not give easy victories(IMO). It will uptempo, so expect some mistakes, or bad shots.
I want to see what he can do with LSU/SEC talent. He had a top 25 class coming in at VCU.
Sorry for the delay. Long weekend.
Geaux Tigers. Geaux VCU.

I would like to see all of our teams play a bit tougher of an ooc schedule. I rather play teams equivalent to VCU early season rather than Southern miss. Same for baseball too

One reason I love that part of the buyout. We could use a good H&H.
It's a small arena, but will be sold out and loud. Will be good experience before the conference schedule.

BTW, in case you didn't look it up as others had pointed out, VCU's athletic budget is around 21 million. With a 1.2 million loss subsidized by the school

LSU's is more like 120 million, and they give the school around 10 million a year.

Tell me again about how the programs have similar athletic program economics, oh world wise one with the proper perspectives.

They are not melting anymore...solid replacement hire in Mike Rhoades from Rice...is there a chance we can pry away Ed McLaughlin too?
