VCU fans sure are salty right now. Go check them out on twitter. Man this stuff is cracking me up.
You checked out the Rant for the last nine years. Pretty salty about Saban to this day. Pretty sure that stuff is still cracking Bammers up, too.

VCU has 32,000 students, but no football program, no baseball stadium, and the Seagal Center looks like the rest of the run down buildings on Broad St in downtown Richmond. So what does that say about what kind of school VCU is? A liberal infested artsy college. Crime is everywhere in that area as well and I avoid if at all possible.

No football program means no athletic budget.

I grew up in Virginia so I have quite a few friends who went to VCU. The melt is pretty great. Funny how a few decent years in basketball made them think they're a destination coaching job
we're looking at you Baylor football fans. Geez they have become the worst entitled fans i know.
Just remember, before Art Briles your program averaged 4 wins a year since WW2

If you are scared of the fan and downtown, you need to get out more. There isn't much crime at all.

Yeah, he's probably thinking Broad St. and north. The Fan area is a gem and much safer than for example almost anywhere in Baton Rouge.

Yeah, it sucks, but since '02 VCU has had 4 coaches, and 10 visits since '04. Has also moved from the CAA, to A10(which a year or two, may of been better than the SEC). I won't be upset. Especially since they are paying more for basketball.
I hope this works out for both. We get our coach, and VCU gets another good one to further the program.
I was surprised to see the negativity coming from the VCU fan base. It's obvious to any rational person that VCU is a stepping stone type of job. And, they are that because they choose to be. If they were willing to pay market value for a coach, they could probably develop into a program that keeps their coach.
But, they choose not to do that.
The fans that whine because a coach leaves for double the money are simply delusional.
I expected more from their fan base to be honest. I was surprised.

Hate to tell you this but the Siegel center is a lot nicer than the PMAC.

This is true. It's bad.

Isn't it a commuter school for the most part?

Somewhat but not as much as it used to be. The school has only been around in its current form since the 70s and only in the last 15 years or so has it started to develop a strong culture around the institution, but it's definitely there. Lot of school spirit and passion for athletics there even though they don't have football. It was a really fun place to go to school.

I think most fans understand they are a stepping stone job. Just guessing, since I haven't talked to my friends back there, but I think the anger and upset is more from Wade only staying 2 years.
And since the Final Four run, they have started spending more on basketball, which I would say has been successful. But an A10 team will never be able to compete financially with a SEC team.

WTF are you talking about ????? South and Southeast BR, campus and some parts of downtown are generally safe.
Some areas north of campus and in North BR may be a little dicey though...

Main sources of frustration seem to be generally being tired of being so successful while bending over backwards to make the program bigger and better, and having coaches still leave.
There's also a lot of people pissed that he seemingly left in the middle of the night without talking to the team. A lot of shots taken at his character, fair or not.
IDGAF about VCU at all, but I can understand their frustration with constantly winning but having coaches leave for perceived mediocre programs at football schools. Smart being the exception.

Maybe being a LSU fan, it really makes me appreciate the success VCU has had since Capel was hired. It could be so much worse.

No one is arguing that VCU isn't the better academic school in some cases but it sure isn't the better athletic/academic school nor does it have the history in any sport so your argument has no standing and it seems to me that you're the one that is quite confused. He's gone get over it. All LSU had been missing was a decent coach now that we have that I hope we meet up in the future so the point can be proved on the court. HTTB
