Run it….
Up the gut
Downhill
Down their throat
Up the middle….for shyt gains.
The talented rbs on the roster should have been given way more options than that bs! A handful of those runs could have been cut to the outside of the horrible run blocking but the guys just ran straight into a constipated or nonexistent hole. It’s like they were so determined to squeeze through what wasn’t there that they were afraid to do their own thing to get more yards. That’s ultimately on the coaches and definitely no bueno!

People, LSU can run the ball, and they will run the ball. They just have to make Kaleb Jackson the lead back and feed him. Also, don't run into ridiculous stacked fronts. We have receivers galore and Nuss isn't a chump. If i was them, I'd also have a Rickie Collins package. Let him run some read option during some games.
This is pretty damn on point.

Yeah I’m convinced anyone saying we ran nothing but inside zone either didn’t watch the game or doesn’t know what inside zone looks like.
I’ve seen multiple people (not in this thread specifically) say “why aren’t we pulling guards/tackles???” Umm.. what?

We don’t have a dominant RB. It’s just that simple. They are just average RB at best.
Also don't have a QB that is a threat to run
No one wants to admit it but it's quite possible that we just don't have the personnel to run the offense and it might be too late to change course

That wasn't the problem.

7 did a really good job coming into run support.
They kept everything in front of them and did a good job crashing down.

Incorporating the pistol would be a nice start
Half the advantage of recruiting receiving TEs is being able to F with defensive coordinators by mixing run and pass out of different formations.
I know, they need to block either way. But more of this would help.

And then the defender comes in and stops them for a loss would be the same outcome just execute the play given pimpton a young first year starter whiffed on a block get over yourselves!

I thought they have 17 in the box? LOL

It’s because the qb is not a threat to run and wasn’t running it so defenders will just crash down on it nuss needs to read it and run it but then if he gets stoooed there your bitching about well he should have handed it off so just execute the play and block the defender if you can or how about miss make the damn throw to the flat to a wide opened wide reciever but yall wants him to throw on a 3rd and one in which you should be able to pick up but you don’t it happens it’s football the defense made a good play leave it at that !

To start with, he is more mobile than some of our recent qbs and I guarantee you that he can run. They more than likely were not wanting him to run because they likely don't have a lot of confidence in the backups were he to go down for an extended period. JD had Nuss last year, so we had a solid backup.
As for a threat to run, Michigan just won a Nc with a guy that averaged 15 yards a game running. Ga won back to back NCS with a guy that also averaged around 15 yards per game running. Before that, Mac Jones won a title and also barely ran. Look at the NFL and all the greats who have won superbowls...many didn't run a lick. It is not required.

running game was below average. passing game was average.

If they give you the pass 50 times a game, you pass 50 times a game and complete most of those passes. Nice was not able to check out of the stupid run plays. You don't run with that many in the box. But we tried like idiots. Bad play calling.

if we ran more than one play off the guard and tackle, like outside the ends where it isn't as congested....heck we might actually gain some meaninful yardage.
Every team in America knows exactly where LSU is going run the ball, especially on 3rd or 4th and short yardage. That is why defenses stack in front of 66. And we go there anyway. 0-2 against usc on critical plays.
Same old, same old running game. When the opposition can match our pyhysicality, we lose.

We averaged 4.5 yards per carry with our longest run being 39 yards.
Compare that to USC who averaged 3.3 per carry being 17 yards.

He’s going to be able to get down. But even if they don’t want him running then they need to send an option to the flat to throw it when the end crashes to combat the aggressive DE. Keeping it is only one option but doesn’t have to be done.

truth be told, if Nuss had 15 yds rushing against usc, we probably would have won, i'd assume that'd be at least one if not two or three extra first downs

They ran counter multiple times as well.
