On a serious note: apparently the big end of the world thing is they are claiming Kiffin coordinated with the players lawyers encouraging them to file a suit and he publically undermined the conference.

This is just hearsay and cannot be proven.

Lane and LSU could just say

“Well after winning their TRO we told them we would roster them, but when the SEC stepped in we informed the players we could not roster them but they could come to camp and practice while they sort out the SEC side of the TRO. At no point in time was it said “You’ll have to sue the SEC to get eligibility, that was up to them and their attorneys”

Easy cut and dry explanation.

The only way the SEC can do anything is if they have concrete proof that Kiffin/LSU contacted these players and encouraged them to sue the NCAA or that LSU had knowledge of Kiffin doing so and didn't do anything.

And even then, LSU didn't force these players (or any players suing the NCAA) to do so. The fact that numerous players with no connection to LSU are suing the NCAA makes it extremely hard to prove that Lane was behind all of this unless they have a text or something super-concrete/tangible.

Can 1 single person show what rule he broke??? “He rostered professional players” “No he didn’t, they’re not on the roster” “Yeah, but they signed NFL contracts” “Cole Hutson got paid more his tryouts than Harris did for his” “Yeah but he recruited them!!!” “So did every other school in the SEC” “YEAH WELL YALL HAVE LANE KIFFIN AND I DON’T LIKE HIM SO YALL SHOULD BE KICKED OUT”

Not agreeing with the SEC, but this take is wrong.

The SEC is claiming he recruited these players and told them to sue the SEC. That is the alleged action they are filing against.

That said, the SEC look like absolute clowns.

Every single one of these players, there are many, not just the two in the LSU case, have all had agents and legal teams looking out for them for years, since the NCAA and conferences basically erased the amateurism they are now claiming to hold so dear.

The idea that they are professional athletes that gave up their eligibility but at the same time poor helpless college kids that never would have thought to pursue their eligibility through the courts without evil Lane telling them what to do is an embarrassingly stupid position for the SEC to take.

Players have been suing for years challenging NCAA eligibility determinations, ahem Chambliss, and winning. The moment the NCAA announced the 5 for 5 rule and excluded the 2022 class these suits were guaranteed.

Claiming that Lane Kiffin is responsible for violating SEC rules on amateurism is outrageous and Sankey and his attorneys should be laughed out of court.

Oh I’m not saying it has merit. Just that is the crux of the claim of what LSU is “doing.”

Short of one of them admitting this, I find that this would be very difficult to prove. Its not a criminal case so can phone records be subpoenaed?

Matt Hayes can suck a dick.

We absolutely shouldn’t pay any fine or suspended lane.

If that’s the ruling, LSU should definitely leave. The writing will be on the wall at that point that anyone other than Georgia, Alabama, or Texas isn’t allowed to build a program for sustainable success.

LOL why? He didnt break any rules

Exactly. We were only looking to do what several others did and at the end of the day we did not roster any "pro" players.

Meanwhile Texas rostered Hutson, but he is rule ineligible pending and appeal. Sankey isn't all over their shite for that, nor is he going after the other schools who tried getting other "pro" players to come back. He seems to have it out in particular for LSU and only LSU,

~8 months ago, former NBA G-League player, Charles Bediako, played 5 basketball games for Alabama. Greg Sankey opposed it, but Bama played him anyway. Neither Bama nor Nate Oates faced ANY punishment from the SEC. Certainly no threat of getting kicked out of the conference.

And the difference in just how much worse the Bediako situation is, it's not even that comparable.

The current situation, it was created by the NCAA's incompetence of when they announced the 5 for 5. These guys only went pro because the NCAA told them they had no eligibility then after that announced the 5 for 5.

Bediako played 2 seasons at Bama, he decided forego his final TWO seasons of college to go pro. Then, he played pro basketbal lin the G League for THREE years before trying to return to LSU.

The Bediako situation is soooooo much worse, and even AFTER playing Bediako, the SEC never threatened expulsion nor filed a federal lawsuit like they did against LSU BEFORE LSU has broken any rules. The SEC shoul be forced to detail the reasons for this and it should have to be made public.

LSU complied with the conference’s roster directive and did not roster the student athletes at issue.

LSU was not the plaintiff in the litigation challenging their eligibility. If the Conference believes LSU violated a specific SEC rule, LSU should request that it identify that rule, the conduct constituting the violation, and the evidence supporting that allegation.

LSU should not accept institutional sanctions based upon conduct it did not commit or allegations that have not been substantiated.

So....

LSU wasn't the team that played a game with an individual that had anything to do with the NFL.....That was TEXAS.

LSU didn't have anything to do with a player that played more than the 5 in 5 restriction.....That was OM.

LSU is clean.

Nothing but be a middle man. The middleman’s days may be numbered. ??

I think football is trending that way. It’s crazy how much money these schools give away by letting conferences take a cut. Eventually, the biggest brands will realize they can do business directly with whoever they choose and that changes the entire game. Phuck the SEC

I hope they do. LSU would take the SEC to the cleaners. There are contracts and if the SEC booted LSU, they better have receipts.
