I know when I make decisions for my business my first thought is "how can I make my competitors happy". Why should LSU given even the slightest of shits what people who, at best, don't care about LSU and, at worst, want to see LSU fail because they are a competitor, think.
The SEC is not necessarily its own "thing". It is an agreement between 16 individual schools to be affiliated which each other. Those other 15 schools aren't going to "kick a member of the group out" because its coaches tried to do what every other member has done over the last 5 years, tried to stretch the limits of the NCAA's lack of rules and consistency, to roster the best players possible. The reason is that NONE of the other 15 schools have "clean hands" and getting into a big legal dispute would open up a whole can of worms the other schools don't want to get into.
It would be mutually assured destruction of the SEC. This lawsuit is NOTHING more than performative posturing by the SEC to try to set precedent that the commissioner is in charge. He's not. The marketplace is. And that marketplace is that 16 individual schools will try to do whatever they can to be the best...because that's what their "customers" (fans and donors) DEMAND.

USA Today musta been paid by the SEC or Sankey to write that

That is a terrible article.

USA Today the number one choice for wave top reporting.

Damn this article might be hallucinating more than the SEC Lawyers. He hops from the Nov 18th Hearing without understanding what that hearing is even about let alone the lawsuit itself to "LSU lost 2 games" to "Alabama 2:30 Kickoff" to "Fire Lane Kiffin"
Matt Hayes clearly has a tepid relationship with reality

Like I said on the SEC Rant, USA Today is a left wing rag and this article is only about one thing. Jeff Landry

Still can’t delineate what rules were broken other than exhausting all legal means to roster said players and bringing Sankey to court about it. If merely questioning authority is all it takes to get kicked out the SEC, don’t love the precedent that sets.

I'm being serious, I didn't realize USA Today still existed.

Mascona can be off putting and has things we often take issue with him here in his own right, but he is really good at exposing clowns like this that put out one-sided poorly researched articles like this.

Much like the original missed move of forbidding the rostering of professional players, Rousse could’ve stopped Kiffin intentionally embarrassing the league before it happened. He simply could’ve told Kiffin to steer clear from agitating the league office or the commissioner - or he will be fired for cause for embarrassing the university.
