At the end of the article, it says he's not expected to take the LSU job because he'd want to avoid the bad blood with Ole Miss. That sounds about right to me. We play at Ole Miss next year again. That would be similar to the Saban return of 2008 to Baton Rouge. I think with the ex wife being from Gainesville and going to UF, plus his previous residence in the state, that we are being given a courtesy trip that will also encourage Florida to sweeten the pot. On the other hand, major kudos to Lane if he says screw all of that and wants to win a natty anyway, because LSU gives him the best shot.

How can he sign a contract when he’s currently under contract? He’d have to resign at Ole Miss first.

I can’t wait till this guy gets celebrated as a message board hero or banned forever.
All this Lane stuff does is drive clicks and subscriptions to fan websites. Chances are we are hiring someone barely being mentioned. Clark Lea or Eric Morris or someone like that.

The only reason I’d allow it is because no one in media has said this yet and Kiffin would want his actual destination if he leaves Oxford to be a total surprise. Thats why all the Kiffin to Florida stuff seems like such a smoke screen.Most of the time these moves are made incredibly covertly.

That one would make a lot of sense tbh. Washington is not going to the playoffs. Kliff could conceivably resign as their OC and take the UF job.

lol I can’t believe a coach on a team that will make the playoffs is going to announce he is leaving said team at the end of the season. Way to tank the school’s best season in school history. If I were an ole miss fan and he did that I’d chase him out of town and not let him coach the rest of the season. Thats a huge distraction for the team.
Why are Florida’s mods and boosters so beaming with confidence that they get him? Even one of our guys (Preston) is “reporting” Lane will accept the Florida job if offered.

Would probably not be received well but i think this would be a good hire.
Just get Kelvin Sheppard if our choices include Pete Golding. I’m confident the program would regain its identity as a hard nosed physical team that plays defense and runs the ball.
