Technically could the kid redshirt? They all have 5 to play 4

NO! You have to be on scholly to redshirt (I think) and it is CLEAR his scholly was revoked..so I'm not positive if he went to somewhere like Bama, could they basically sign him and redshirt him?

I just know you have to be on scholly to get a redshirt

les never said he couldn't sit out the year. When asked that, he just said, "i don't think that's something tyrann wants to do"

St. Aug runs about $7,000 a year for tuition. Now, if he got financial aid in high school, you can bet he can get some for college.

Pretty sure he has to be eligible to play in order to not lose a year of eligibility for this year.

Redshirting cannot be used to avoid losing a year of playing time due to suspension (NCAA/School/Team).

depends on the type of student loan you guys are talking about. Federal or private. Federal is based on need but often doesn't cover everything. Maybe for him, not sure on his parents financial situation, it would cover everything.

If you can't attend LSU as an in state student on $9,000 of subsidized loans, you are insane. Just take my word for it, you can get it covered and easily get enough to take care of CoL in the non-subsidized loans. Co-signing is irrelevant. There is no risk since they can never be discharged. It is why people with nothing get student loans.

He was never kicked out of school.

He didn't want to sit out a year (by the rules) so he was let go.

Now if he wants to sit out a year, and come back for his senior year, he could.

If lsu allows him.

I don't see why they wouldn't. I think this is going to happen it's just a matter of time and red tape.

Is Skip Bayless really this stupid? LSU's coaches were looking for a reason? Had it been Mo Claiborne they would have found a way to sweep this under the rug? The man is a moron.

Sounds right to me, and I don't know why LSU would deny him that.

But it seems unlikely that he could afford the tuition for the 1 year without a scholly.

Get a loan.

If he's not on the team can he receive money?

Technically I think he's got to be a part of the team in order to receive a RS. He isn't currently.

No. You don't have to be on a team or even in school for a year to be considered a redshirt year.
