Ill be curious how this King Lawsuit shakes out but it doesnt look good from a PR point. Alexander may not have been directly involved with the accusations but I dont buy for one second he wasnt part of the end game. They seem to have felt King was low hanging fruit in that many people didnt seem to like him or felt his style was not conducive for public support.. The lawsuit at a time when people dont feel confidence in the administration is the problem they didnt see. Purely idiotic on their part that they didnt see it.

Not necessarily that but stories like Roy King and another professor that have come up the past year or two.

I agree he hasn't done the university any favors at all from a PR standpoint when it comes to staffing decisions. The fact that Joe A still has a job is reason enough for him to be run off.

Again mind you, I'm not advocating for him to keep his job. But he has gotten a lot of unwarranted heat for the attention he put on the state's budget issues and how it could negatively affect the athletic program.

It wasn't all the doom and gloom he made it out to be (it was a pretty transparent stunt to call more attention to the budget shortfall). But the tact worked. It lit a fire under a lot of state legislators to do something to help right the ship.

We can argue all day about whether or not what was done/is being done by the state administration/legislature is the right thing. But at least something is being done to try to rectify Bobby J's failed financial policy.

The members of the faculty committee weren't Buchanan's co-workers. None of them knew her on a personal basis.

And even if they had known her, you're automatically presuming that they wouldn't be able to objectively assess the nature of the case and arrive at a just decision.

If you knew King like most people who work with him on a daily basis do, you would be able to contextualize incidents like this and understand why he's a threat to the entire LSU system.

It was definitely a win/lose strategy. I know for a fact it cost us money from OOS students, as I have two family members that were legacies and went to Arkansas and Tennessee instead. Then again the budget may not have been hit as hard because of his tactic.

I'm like you where it's just unfortunate how unattractive we are of a job right now. I'm sure we wanted better, but at least he had the balls to try and tackle this shite show. He just needs to hire some pr help

and now if the allegations in Roy King's law suit have any basis

I just read the entire document. If even ONE of the things that Roy is claiming is true, which I believe all of them are, F. King needs to be fired. Along with a couple other named defendants.

Here's a hint, your wife probably disagrees with you and thinks your job title is a joke.

Even if either of those things were true, six of the top 15 universities in the U.S. have presidents who were STEM majors. They seem to have a pretty solid grasp on how to run universities in spite of their lack of proper degrees.

I 100% agree. He has embarrassed the University enough. We could do a lot better. This is not his little fiefdom.

Truly is one of the nicest people I've ever met. His family loves LSU, part of the reason I ended up down here. Also got to play a round of golf with his clubs before :csb:

I agree. I was stating why he left...not my opinion, which was positive of Sean.

t's been one fiasco after another since he got here. The academic bankruptcy scare tactic that turned out to be fruitless; The Les Miles debacle; and now if the allegations in Roy King's law suit have any basis, it's time for this guy to go. From the person that's supposed to promote and enhance our university, he's a PR nightmare. I realize bad press is going to get more attention, but what has Alexander done to make LSU better?

You forgot to mention that he is also currently censured by the LSU Faculty. This guy is a piece of work.

Met O'Keefe at an LSU related event shortly after he was hired. Very polite, straight forward guy. Open with anyone he met, and didn't betray any self importance.

Since those days, LSU has lost a considerable amount of nationally recognized administrative leadership. Interim hires and less than successful searches are the order of the day. Go figure allegations of money grabs and shoddy management issues are coming to light.

Agreed, Alexander is a complete joke and needs to be shown the door. He has done nothing but bring embarrassment upon the university. His little puppet shows in front of the legislature have made us a laughing stock. These left academics are the same as the damn politicians, gimme gimme gimme, more more more, yet none want to look and tighten the belt. These folks crying wolf prey upon the publics ignorance of how much money is actually coming in. Could LSU get more funding? Sure, but it isn't like they have lost anything in the past few years. Why not instead of begging for more of the public's money do you figure out how to raise more from private donations, make cuts to non money making programs, or generate additional revenue.
Their stubbornness in retaining Johnny Jones shows they don't give a shite about raising additional revenue.

I know what you were talking about. My wife works at LSU and has never met a whinier, more self-entitled, arrogant, holier-than-thou, group of miserable fricks than the faculty at that university.

Yes, King Alexander should go.
In fairness he did inherit a mess, but his cowardly approach to the financial crisis will do more harm to the school academically and athletically than most anyone else.
Also, in fairness the state is poor, but it collects enough in tax revenues to properly fund higher education.
Blame also should go to
1. Bobby Jindal, who was more arsonist than governor;
2. The Board of Supervisors (appointed by Jindal) who should be summarily shot for incompetence. BUT, they have GREAT tickets!
