I foresee LSU getting back to being an aggressive defense that flies to the ball.

With 3 lock down corners, a deep, experienced defensive line, and depth at safety, this defense is primed for a good year.

Opposing offenses might be able to put together 2 long drives per game. So unless the offense has turnovers, it'll be tough sledding.

Stingley might even get some Heisman hype.

I want to believe. The 2020 defense was historically bad. Just flag football like at times.

LB depth is still a concern. If Stingley is a Heisman finalist then LSU is in the playoff.

I still think the way offense is these days, the era of holding teams to 14 pts or less are all but extinct. If LSU can hold teams around that 18 ppg mark and force about 2-3 turnovers per game, that would be fantastic defense in this day and age. With that level of defensive play to compliment the explosiveness on offense & assuming CBD can get the O line serviceable, there’s not a game LSU can’t win on the schedule.

For reference, 2019 LSU defense surrendered about 21 ppg

We have zero lockdown corners. Stingley might be the best in college but Devonta Smith abused him last year. And that wasn't the only time he was overmatched. Florida had almost an entire TD drive beating Stingley.

Great receivers are not going to be shutdown by our best corner, much less by three of our guys. If you want to shut them down you do it with the pass rush.

Georgia and Auburn keep proving that year in and year out.

If Stingley is healthy, he’s the best cover corner LSU has ever had. Ricks is a 1st or 2nd round talent too.

Dude, Stingley wasn't close to 100% last year. And Devonta Smith is the best WR I've ever seen at Bama and he won the Heisman. He won them a NC against UGA as a true freshman and helped get them another one last year. Ignorant response.

That's a bold statement. If last year didn't happen I might slightly agree. Stingley was probably just above average last year. Could have been health or coaching. He will need a special year to beat out the LSU legends.

LSU will be a top 10 defense most likely. The way we beat Bama, and get to playoffs is improved Oline play RB play need a balanced attack on offense.

Zero lockdown corners?? Lol last year was a wash and wasn’t on Stingley(who admitted he was even near 100%) Bo had the worst concepts and communication with the secondary. I don’t care how good you are if you have communication problems you will get beat every time. You don’t know what you are talking about

The defense is going to come down to linebacker and safety.

Can lsu find someone to stop the run at linebacker.

Damone clark isn't the man for the job.

. I think We will use the talent and play it safe with a Chavis and Aranda type bend but don’t break defense. May not get the sacks and turnovers aggressive defense does but the strategy is limit big plays and keep them out the end zone. We can trade FG for TD all day. We win.

Many factors ruined last year. Pellini was not a good dc at lsu and NU for nothing. U think he forgot to coach. Blm. Covid no spring and losing over 30 players played a factor whether u believe it or not.

Go back and watch that game and tell me how many catches Smith had when Stingley was guarding him…I’ll save you time, he had one. And on that one, Stingley was not “abused” as you say. Stingley had great coverage and Mac Jones threw the ball up where only Smith could catch it and Smith made a highlight reel catch. That’s hardly the “abuse” you were talking about.

Not to mention as others have said that Stingley injured his ankle in the Missouri game and was not the same for most of the year.

There’s a reason that Stingley is projected as a top 5 pick in next year’s draft and barring injury, you will see it.
