It won’t hurt putting up 30+ points a game.

You won’t win championships in any sport unless you can put lots of points on the board.

2.5 punts per half is winning D these days.

All the rules favor the offense, we need 28 -30 points per game. But yes, the D should be much better. They better be.

No way we go from worst to first in a year. Need to have reasonable expectations

So there’s not a lockdown corner in the NCAA? What an ignorant statement

We have zero lockdown corners. Stingley might be the best in college but Devonta Smith abused him last year. And that wasn't the only time he was overmatched. Florida had almost an entire TD drive beating Stingley.

Great receivers are not going to be shutdown by our best corner, much less by three of our guys. If you want to shut them down you do it with the pass rush.

You been living on a cloud? Stingley played hurt and hardly at all last year. We had safeties playing at corner because of injuries or Covid. Ricks and Stingley ARE lockdown corners as best you can get. Yes lockdown corners do get beat sometimes but so what? Lastly we had two pure freshman having to play cause of Brennan's injury so our limited offense didn't help our defense.

Pass rush will help this year big time.

The offense will be pretty damn good. Especially if a clear number 2 receiver emerges. There is so much talent on offense for that unit not to be very good. It’s going to be fun to watch

I just want to see our guys treat the opposing offensive players like they owe them money.

You’re right, it’s a tall task for Stingley. Still, he’s got all the talent to do it. Last year was rough for him, but consider the following:

-seizure before game 1
-nagging injuries all year
-COVID year was hard for these athletes in terms of prep
-horrendous coaching and support by rest of defense

I think (if he can stay healthy) he will have a historic season. Perhaps not in a statistical sense (not expecting many INTs) but he’s not gonna give up many catches this year. QBs should be afraid of him.

You guys who want to blame last year's failures on COVID will apparently have that luxury this year. It's still around, so whatever happens, nobody is accountable, right?

Correct, and our Dline and LB blitz package did not help our corners against the best I've seen in Smith and other bama receivers. We must find a way to get pressure and stop allowing opposing QB's to constantly throw on time and in rhythm. That is our biggest D failure imho. Because of that we saw the worst safety play in modern LSU history exposed all year.
Ward and Ryan/Burns or whoever must be given a chance and up our safety play immensely. the word is out to throw long on LSU, so pressure is necessary to stop that. It will be the key to our success imo.
