It's the ultimate meritocracy. "I wasn't a hero, but I played among heroes."

A lot of travel ball parents are functionally illiterate when it comes to math too. Who would have thunk.
The odds of a kid going D1 out of high school are extremely slim. My son(who played his whole life) played with hundreds of kids...hell probably thousands coming up. He knew of a handful that went D1. Those kids were monsters(physically) or could throw the ball 90mph. Did a lot of kids end up JUCO or D2? Sure....but that's the reality awaiting almost every kid at the end of high school.
The reality is - the math just doesn't work. Hundreds of thousands of kids competing for hundreds of spots.

Reality now is a minuscule percentage of kids, even ones who would have been D1 recruits 5 yrs ago will still get recruited by D1 programs.
No coach whose job depends on winning is taking an unproven 18 year old boy over 21, 22 or 23 year old men with a track record of college at bats/innings and 3 to 4 more years of strength training.
Great players now are lucky to play college ball anywhere at any level. JUCO is full of absolute dawgs

I love the money wasted on club sports. Insanity. This is why Ill be done working 20 yrs before my peers despite having my own student loans at one point when they did not.

2027 and 28 high school kids are getting screwed by the new 5 year rule. Baseball is effected more so than other sports because players need to keep a year of eligibility for negotiations with MLB. Also because undrafted kids will all return instead of leaving. Add to that all of the small school kids who stay another year after graduation because want to play in a big time program. Add to that the transfer portal becoming a bigger recruiting focus than HS.
Brutal time to be the class just starting your journey into college baseball.

She should be like OysterPoBoy and give BJs to coaches.

The 2027’s are getting screwed big time w the rule changes. This may not have anything to do w her particular situation that you seem to big enjoying this lazy dig at “travel ball” but there is NOTHING AT ALL wrong going juco (which isn’t easy either w the classes getting squeezed) and then work your way up from there. Mason Hickman went juco 1 year, hit the shite out the ball and just committed to Oklahoma.
I’m going through a similar situation.

Parents trying to live vicariously through their children are some of the most pathetic people out there.

Imagine if they had put that much time, effort, and money into academics.

It’s the same for most youth sports.
