He’s a decent player and good depth but I just don’t see how he beat out Geralds who looks like he’s going to be a freshman phenom or Blocton who was a wall against the run last year for Auburn
Deuce Gerald’s is a freak show. His spring film against the offensive lineman was jaw dropping. His pass rush tool box he already displays for a true freshmen is ridiculous and he plays with real power theirs a reaosn he’s the all time Georgia high school football sack leader. By all accounts he was the toughest defensive lineman for the linemen to block during spring he’s gonna play a ton right away

McKinley was overrated coming out of high school. He's never going to be a Dorsey type player, you see those guys emerge in year 1 and 2. He can be a solid rotational piece and a good player but we're all hoping one of the frosh lives up to the hype quickly if the Dline is going to become dominant.

No, there's no rule, but if he doesn't then he'll be on the transfer list going to save his career with another school. OP is just stating a fact, that's all.
To add - I think he's fully capable, he's just got to get over the hump. This line is going to be very competitive though.

The DT position as a whole didn't produce much last season. Same for DE from a disruptive stand point. They were adequate and held their position for the most part but there was no dynamic element ie sacks, TFLs.
Specifically to D McKinley just sticking with the star system this one time, he was rated a 5* out of HS and has played no better than a low 4*. How many times did he make plays? Was he a bust...no, not really. But IMO he was barely an SEC caliber starter which is why he won't be starting this season. BTW, a BUNCH of posters warned he was overrated who actually saw him play in HS games they attended. They pretty much were spot on in their assessments...decent player for sure but not remotely close to 5*.

Dom was highly rated based on physical metrics and potential over production. Conversely, Duece Geralds would be a consensus 5 star based on production (all time GA sack leader) but is "slightly downgraded" due to less than prototypical size. We pulled off a coups, getting him away from Kirby and UGA.

So how are we gauging his play moving forward? Numbers impact plays? We’ve altered how we play our DTs, he’s more in a NT role now so do we compare him to a Brockers or a Tyler Shelvin or does he need to have a major statistical season?

He's powerful but he doesn't have too many moves besides his bull rush as far as I've seen

quote:He hasn't really even been a starter yet. He plays in rotation, but it's not like he's in the game 60^+ of the time. This should be his first true year starting. He has plenty guys on his heels so it's pretty much his last chance at LSU to show his worth.
Feels like Maason smith 2.0. Doesn’t really produce at the college level but talent alone will get him to a 2nd round pick in the draft.
Hope he’s in shape and healthy to tap into that potential this year

His first two years here he hasn’t been a bad player by any means but definitely hasn’t lived up to that 5 star recruiting ranking as well.
I dont see it as make or break. He has played well but not in the stardom class. Also we dont see what his assignments are. In Baker's defense QB pressure comes from the blitz packages and hence DTs eat blocks.
So far career
2025 340 snaps ( a lot for a non-starter)
2024 146 snaps
23 games
4 sacks
19 tackles
Not stardom but not chopped liver either. If he commands double teams he has NFL value
I would definitely love for him to step up to All Amer status! or even All SEC

Do we expect him to be comparable to McFarland and Dorsey or do we expect him to be like Lawrence or Brockers because their snap counts vary from about 55-35 per game and again McKinley has averaged under 20 naps per game.
Lawrence played 44% of the defensive snaps in 2019
McKinley played 41% of the overall defensive snaps last year
DTs always rotate. He doesn’t need more playing time prove he is good. Lmao

Lawrence played 465 snaps in 2019 (31 per game)
McKinley played 370 snaps last season (28 per game)
So you’re saying that’s the best comp for McKinley?

Best comp?
I am saying DTs rotate. He’s never going to see a heavy share of snaps.
Would be nice if you stopped lying

I asked a simple question. Nvmnd, forgot you’re a bitch
Posted on 7/21/26 at 12:15 pm to Madking
This is what you said.
Plays 28 snaps a game but he will “finally get his chance to play this year”
Needs to be in the rotation enough to make that determination. Looks like he’ll finally get his chance to play this year.

As usual you’re either too dumb or too dishonest to correctly or honestly recount someone’s statements. I said he’s played 19.6 snaps per game for his career because his career was the original topic. (When will he fulfill potential). I asked about Lawrence and Shelvin because they’re more recent interior linemen who were impactful, didn’t put up huge numbers but had a more comparable snap count to McKinley. I mentioned some of our historic guys to show their high snap count and to ask if that’s what people are using as a standard. Stop clipping people Lester or learn how to read
