That may have been what he told Morgan, but here’s what I think happened: The ump, like all umps, didn’t like Morgan flipping the bat on ball four that was called a strike. He was willing to overlook it though. He probably also noticed the exuberant Morgan bat flipping on ball 4s and thought it was a little over the top and may have even checked the rules on it.
After Morgan hit the home run he makes an absolute point to stomp on home after raising his leg fairly high. I believe he was so emphatic in an attempt to show up the ump a little from the bad call on ball 4.
The ump then chose to retaliate about the only way he could, via the rules, with a warning about some innocuous rule he read.

What I'd like to know is what did CJJ tell all the players as they were circled around him: several started laughing & CJJ turned back towards the field with a smile on his face. The focus on the players' faces was quite clear.

The man is an absolute coaching prodigy. He’s Skip like in the level of buy in he gets from his players. Lets just hope he gets half of skips production on the field.

What is getting ridiculous is LSU fans. The rule is a great one, designed to keep people from getting hurt. If you watch Tre’s bat flip it was dangerous. LSU players were coming out of the dugout, and the bat appeared to come close to them.

From what I’ve seen so far this year these sec umpires need to spend more time studying balls and strikes than bat flips. No way was it a flip and the bat landed between the exits of the dugout not really near anyone. Tre does do an unusual jump out of the box turnaround after a ball but who knows what the umpire is thinking.

I'm an old head when it comes to baseball, but these celebration rules are ridiculous. Let these kids have fun! They are living their dream, playing on the biggest stage most of them will ever play on.

I’m pretty neutral about this one incident. It doesn’t bother me how the umpire talked to Tre. He got his point across without being a huge dick about it. On the flip side, Tre tossed the bat flat towards his own dugout. He didn’t fling it or flip it wildly and he certainly didn’t toss it toward the opposing dugout. Pretty tame if you ask me.

watching as it happened, i thought it was about stomping on home plate at the end.

I really love when Crews hammers one, and runs the bases incredibly determined, but barely even looks at anyone else.
That’s way cooler to me than a bat flip.

I was actually thinking same X two. Crews and TW going yard too! The P was rattled and serving up grapefruits.
We'll save that for this weekend.

Seriously? That Ump handled it with all class! Go rewatch it. He didn’t make a scene AT ALL. He even patted Morgan on the chest.
The Arky series is ALWAYS spicy as will Ten this weekend due to the disdain LSU has for DVH and TV. That game was far from over there and he did EXACTLY what he should have.
Just stop with blaming others.
Morgan was wrong and instead of making a huge scene, the Ump handled him like a man and made sure he gave Tre a positive reinforcement gesture as if he was still a kid that he is.

I think the way the umpire handled the situation was appropriate. He did not make a big scene, just talked to him like an adult.
he even patted Tre on the chest when he was done, which is classy.

Especially when it comes to DVH and TV teams. There is zero love loss between LSU and those 2. Throw UF in there to a lesser extent.

I think the ump did it in a professional way and didn't try to show up the player.
