I think he's going to be an analyst who controls special teams
My guess as well. TE coach will be a separate hire.

Seven blocked kicks in one season? It seems clear that this guy is doing a different kind of special teams coaching than what we’ve had. I’m all in on giving this guy the position.

Our ST have been so bad under BK that any improvement will be welcomed. Hopefully we get the inside story at some point on how this hire came about.

Aman Anand is an Indian (dot not feather) name, quite a rarity in football. Not middle eastern, geez this board sometimes

ETA: Aman means peace, Anand means joy, both obviously lacking on this board regarding this hire

What kind of guy takes four years to hire a special teams coach?

Stupid post. Do you know how many ME families are in South Louisiana?Lots. Ever heard of Kaliste Saloom Road in Lafayette. Guess who it is named after?

So you would say that a Middle Eastern guy is a great cultural fit at LSU, but a white guy from Massachusetts is not?

It’s not me making the stupid posts. Look in the mirror. I don’t know how some of you guys get yourselves dressed in the morning.

I can't understand how this is being received negatively. Kelly has neglected STs his entire tenure here and this shows once again that he is willing to acknowledge and fix his mistakes (once again showing how poor the Les Miles comparisons are). STs is perhaps our biggest weakness heading into next season, and now we finally have someone responsible for fixing that. I know it's SWAC competition, but those are good numbers nationally and honestly just having someone responsible should improve this unit.

Also notice that the guy doesn't seem to have a football background from what i can tell. Just a random dude who decided to get into coaching and was able to get hired at Penn State and Baylor. That should tell you that he knows some stuff

And you consider this a positive thing? Never change, Tiger Rant. Never change.

My comment above about you guys not being able to get dressed in the morning still stands.

And no doubt a lot of these “cultural fit” people have parents, grandparents, etc. who shopped for generations at Abdallah’s.

This guy must have good ideas, but the significance of the hire is unknown until we know 1) what his role will be and 2) how many resources (including practice time) Kelly will give ST s.
Also, why does this go from major conference roles to Texas Southern and then Grambling?

Now that analysts can coach on the field it makes no sense to have a special teams coordinator taking up a valued recruiting coach’s spot. Analysts can do everything an assistant can do except go on the road recruiting. So hire a few analysts who know their stuff and then get your position players some extra coaching/elite recruiters.

I think headset restrictions still apply to analysts. The written rules certainly seem to prevent analysts from using them, anyway. Not sure whether teams have found a loophole.

But even that shouldn’t be a huge deal. Just stick a GA or position coach with the “analyst” running special teams to relay any calls.

Overall I agree that it doesn’t make sense to use a role with recruiting privileges on a pure ST coach. It was questionable before they officially changed the analyst rules. Most teams were already splitting duty between special teams and either a position group or recruiting coordinator.

Yea it could be. Being a placekicker for 4 years at New Mexico State wouldn't make him anymore qualified in my opinion. And most coaches get their first job through the connections they made while playing.

If he can get those schools to hire him off the street with no background then he must be impressive. And he will have more hunger to prove himself on the big stage

Its not hate. Its understanding that Grambling and most bottom tier FCS programs play sub par college football.

Thats not on the coach though. He did a great job
