Can someone just come out and outright say wtf is going on with him.

This drama queen BS doesn’t need to be going on in the locker room.

I hope this is just a case of immaturity and not a head case or something else

Gilbert is waiting to meet with the new OC to see how he will be utilized and developed in the new offense.

How do you know how the team feels about the situation?

He had to have told O he was entering the portal whether he did or not
I doubt O is immediately going check the portal to see if he's actually in it, that's Ponamsky's job or now Austin Thomas's job

I was told by a trusted source that he wasn’t happy with his development here. Said the coaches never coached him to be better and acted like he did no wrong. Maybe O has convinced him the new regime will be different.

Gilbert felt really played when Brady left, it’s like that was 90% of the reason he came here or something. Maybe the Peetz news has him scratching his head????

Assume after the new OC is hired that a conversation will be had with Arik and go from there. Best to think that at this time he he will not be rejoining the team.

If Gilbert is or is not in the transfer portal the contact O is having with him would not change the only difference is if other coaches can talk to him legally anyway. So O not knowing if he is in it or not is just semantics he would be acting the same.

It just might resolve itself in just shy of a week....

If not enrolled and attending classes at LSU he'll no longer be an eligible student athlete at LSU. So we'll know in that circumstance.

If enrolled and attending at LSU, we won't know anything for sure.

If enrolled and attending at another school in the approximate same time frame, he will no longer be an eligible student or athlete at LSU.

So we have an ultra talented kid that has finally hit adversity in his career. It is not surprising he thinks it is everyone else or the program that is the problem. I wish him the best if he wants to go to other program. This is the problem with the transfer portal in CFB now, adversity has everyone bailing out.

Let's be real, If it wasn't for covid this whole past year, Gilbert would be fine in BR, These kids are limited on what they can go do and i'm sure it gets boring AF, I hope he stays cause he's a huge part of this team going forward, if he goes, then best of luck, we will also be fine without him

It’s almost like Gilbert really shouldn’t be focusing on football at all right now...

Take that how you’d want it.

That's sad. Really feel bad for the kid if that's the case.

Jordan Toles said as much on an IG post and I’m pretty sure he’s sticking around. I mean what’s less boring, Tuscaloosa?!?!

I've seen various things from mental illness to drug addiction. Regardless, he's an asset if he stays, and I'm doubtful that that will happen.

Except that he’s not. He hasn’t officially entered the transfer portal. So he’s officially still here.

IMO, Gilbert violated some NCAA or team rules that if enforced by LSU he would have to sit for a year. To avoid that Gilbert and Coach O are taking advantage of a loophole in NCCA regs by quitting and entering/not entering the portal. Once reinstated Gilbert then starts with a clean slate.

That's my pure speculative guess.
