The misunderstanding between O and Gilbert is kinda weird.

Several reports say Gilbert has not even entered the portal. Even his personal trainer says he has not entered the portal.
O says he has entered the portal but is in close contact with he and his family to bring him back. I would assume the coach would know more so I will side with O. But this is very strange. It’s almost like Gilbert is telling O one thing but doing another.
On top of all this Gilbert himself said he has entered the portal. But that tweet got deleted. 2nd thoughts? Hope so. Just a very strange situation. Something definitely going on behind the scenes. Curious what u guys think?

I know Gilbert is extremely talented and I’m sure I will get downvoted for this, but I’m over the Gilbert drama.

I am hoping this gets resolved one way or another. I don’t like the uncertainty. And I’m sure the team doesn’t either. We will see I guess.

Well to be fair he said he was "verbally entering the transfer portal" which while weird and confusing seems to imply he wasn't actually in it yet.

Sounds like Gilbert wants to transfer, and his mom is wanting to keep him here. Notice O didn’t say he was in contact with Arik, but was in contact with his mom and family.

I don't care about the drama, which I am sure is a function of immaturity. I have had a member of my own family go away to school, got homesick, almost came apart and ended up transferring to a different school. It happens.
I just hope O is able to help him get through this and we get him back for 2021. He is a generational type talent at that position. He could mean the difference in a few games next year.
Without him, we have Boutte as the only proven game-changer to catch the ball. The rest are still unproven IMO.

I was told by a trusted source that he wasn’t happy with his development here. Said the coaches never coached him to be better and acted like he did no wrong. Maybe O has convinced him the new regime will be different.

Outside of the O line, with Gilbert back and a full off season of practice, I'd feel good about our offense to be able to hit that 10 win spot. Hope he figures out his issues

This is what I've been saying. Everyone on these boards likes to go on and on about how WRs don't matter bc we'll always be loaded at WR...well, as of now, we are not loaded at WR. We have talent, but only one guy who has actually proven himself. We desperately need either another huge breakout or Gilbert to return. Boutte is nasty but he can't be the only difference-making pass-catcher. I think Koy Moore will be awesome in the slot, but we need someone who is *dangerous*. Gilbert can be dangerous.

Yeah, but unless he's an actual "locker room cancer", he's a hell of a talent and I'd take him back in a heart beat.

Hate to lose him but I and the team is over it. The way cole Taylor is developing as a team player and blocker, I think we will be ok if he chooses not to come back.
