The prolonged vibration never ceased.
Funny you mention this, an engineer(La Tech) at work went to the game and mentioned how the concrete was vibrating under his feet.

Loudest ever and I’m really old. My ears are still ringing and my voice is hoarse.
What a victory!
What a victory!

My lasting memory of the FSU 82 game was not so much the noise but the raining of oranges and the dense fog added to the surreal atmosphere.
USC 79 was about the noise.
USC 79 was about the noise.

When Jarvis scored with 2 minutes left might be the loudest moment in TS history.
I agree but Taylor's TD and also his 2pt conversion were equally as loud if not louder to me and I was at both as well. I really do believe Saturday was the loudest I've ever heard TS and I didn't think that was possible after the 2012 Bama game.

1979 USC game, my ears were ringing for a week!

If we’re going by dBs the reported number is .6 below only one other CFB game for as long as dBs have been recorded.
The 133.6 game was Washington Huskies crowd in 1992.

was there in 79. I can compare noise levels over decades because I pay close attention to that stuff.
Why do you think the USC QB had little trouble calling cadence as compared to say Tebow in '07 or last Sat night?

I have been around a while. 1972 with only 67000 and I thought that was loud when we beat Ole Miss 17-16 after Bert Jones passed to Brad Davis for a TD with no time left in the 4 second game. It was really loud after the extra point.
LSU vs USC in 79 was loud start to finish. Pre-Game after the first time of the "Four Notes" was insanely loud.
Hodson to Fuller in the Earthquake Game against Auburn is up there.
The big moments of the 97 game vs Florida are up there. (Those in attendance know those moments)
Mettenberger to Landry TD pass against Bama at the end of the Fourth Quarter in 2012 is up there.
I wasn't there Saturday (I'm 12 hours away) so all those that were in attendance at the above games AND there Saturday will have to give their opinion. (If there are any)

quote:I think it’s ridiculous that one if not the loudest noise generated by LSU fans had nothing to do with what their team was doing on the field. Sorry- every time someone mentions that, I cringe. I don’t doubt what your saying. I just wish our fans would not obsess so much over things like that outside the stadium during the game. What happened Saturday night inside DV should by all rights have been the loudest most joyous of all occasions. Period.
Never got close to the piercing level of the USC score announced though IMO.

You have to put it in perspective. Fans were still extremely angry about the 03 “split” national championship and hated usc who was #1 at the time and were still considered close to a dynasty even though they only had 1 true championship. When it was announced they lost and that LSU with a win would finally be the unanimous #1 over USC like we should have been in 03, combined with being in an all out war with one of the GOATS Tim Tebow and the florida gators who were our most hated rival at the time, it was the perfect storm for that stadium to explode. It wasn’t really a “hell yea usc lost” cheer, it was a “frick yeah defense let’s nut the frick up and claim that #1 spot which was rightfully ours in 03 and is rightfully ours now” cheer.
Then florida scored 2 plays later
Then florida scored 2 plays later

Thanks. I am fully aware of the context., watched the game back then very intently as Ive been a resident of Florida for a long time now but life long avid tiger fan and alum, and know a ton of Gator fans. and I get it. I just wish that moment didn’t outshine what our our own tigers did on the field. And I always want to mention the fact that Tebow and team were completely unaffected by that celebration as they scored a go ahead TD as you say right after all that meaningless commotion, lol!

Tail wags the dog. It all starts w the student section.... if they are fired up & loud, the stadium perks up. It seems like the student section hasn't been as involved as years past. Maybe we have turned a corner....

Loudest ever, and anyone there can attest, was 2007 vs. Florida when it was announced that USC had lost to Stanford. It was the most improbable loss and all fans from both teams screamed.

Wasn’t there an issue with the concrete used to make the stadium? Maybe we should hold back on many more of these games.
Many fans would argue that dying in a rubble of Tiger Stadium collapse due to a monumental victory would be a great way to go.

USC 1979 and honestly nothing else really close....I would put Florida '97 next closest.

I read the loudest ever recorded was a KC chiefs game at 142dbs
