How are they just walking around smiling without a peep being said??? Not one school

Negotiation is just a matter of who can hold their breath the longest. Have to hope LSU and the leadership are all on the same page in terms of how far they are willing to let this go. Someone has to blink.

The SEC has drawn the line at signing a NFL player contract which Harris and Wright did. Hutson did not. I sincerely believe they chose that line because it isolated Kiffin from the other coaches. They also chose to ignore the fact that Golding and Beamer also recruited these players (unless Wright is lying). This is about getting rid of Kiffin.

I really don’t know the situation of all the “pro” players on other teams. But I’ve seen where some or most or all just attended mini camp and never signed a contract and made a roster. I think that’s the line that’s crossed as far as the SEC is concerned….a player that has signed a contract and at least made a roster and even possibly played in a preseason game and was cut.

Right now the SEC agrees with the NFL that a pro player is one who signs an NFL contract to attend training camp even if they don’t make the team. A non pro player according to both is one who tries out at a mini camp but doesn’t sign a training camp contract.
UT did not do the same thing that LSU attempted to do. UT signed a guy that merely tried out during a mini camp. He did not sign a pro contract. He was always eligible and it has never been in dispute, except on this forum for some reason.

If he was the only one we could probably make that argument. But as everyone has said Texas is FAR from the only school to be doing this.

Show me in the published rules where it delineates between the Rookie camp agreement and a player contract. It simply states "signed a contract." A contract is simply a legally binding agreement. There is no mention of it even requiring financial compensation.
This whole differentiation is an interpretation of something that simply isn't there. A contract is a contract. Period. Hutson signed a contract with not only one but two NFL teams.

It’s because lsu challenged the sec head on. Texas didn’t. When the Dallas judge granted the injunction, it was against the ncaa. The SEC had not gotten involved at that time. And the SEC believes lsu was behind all of the court stuff. At least in some capacity.
So that’s what all of this is stemming from I believe. The SEC was horribly embarrassed at that hearing. Sankey was horribly embarrassed. They want blood. There’s definitely some favoritism going on as well, but the sec getting embarrassed is the main issue here.

Cole Hutson is ineligible. His own coach even admitted as much yesterday. Somehow, he’s still on their roster. Crickets from the SEC office about it, though.

Two important factors you’re missing:
(1) LSU did NOT sign them. Intention while waiting for approval and acting without approval are completely different.
(2) The rule was amended “after” LSU made their intentions known. Multiple coaches have come out and argued the ambiguity of eligibility in modern day college athletics.
