@NYPost_Brazille Hearing new LSU's Will Wade will make adding St. John's assistant Matt Abdelmassih a top priority, and he will seriously consider it. #sjubb

@CodyWorsham VCU signee Mayaan Kiir had LSU among his finalists. Could the 6-9 forward have interest in LSU?

Would need a release from VCU

Also, apparently LSU must play a home/home with VCU within 3 years or they can pay 250,000. One of the terms of his VCU buyout.

That's not a negative. Good OOC home games have been few and far between.

The VCU board wants the money. They expect us to ruin their RPI.

From what I've read about Abdulmassiah it sounds like he can recruit

ULM played at VCU this year and lost 78-65.

It not how fast you recruit... its how well you recruit fast.

Tabbed the top transfer recruiter in the country by ESPN college basketball experts, Abdelmassih has also attracted three coveted prospects to St. John’s in Justin Simon (Arizona), Marvin Clark Jr. (Michigan State) and Tariq Owens (Tennessee), all of whom possess high major experience.

Abdelmassih returned to St. John's after five seasons with Iowa State, where he spent his last four seasons as an assistant to head coach Fred Hoiberg and helped guide the Cyclones to four-straight NCAA Tournament appearances.

Good stuff. Getting transfers in could help turn the program around in two or three years. And he had a lot of success helping build up Iowa State. Sounds like a solid add if we can get him.

I like Adbdelmassih as our national guy, but we need another assistant with nice Texas and Louisiana ties

I say Alleva has to do everything he can to ensure Wade gets the guys he wants. Give him all the tools and I think he can turn this program around for long term success.

If he doesnt want Livingston dont force it on him.

This. And turning around a basketball program can happen much quicker than with any of the other major sports. Patience is needed here, but with the right pieces in place this could be a respectable team as early as next season and a tournament team within 3.

Not sure if there is a connection but he's a highly regarded guy.

Wonder if he goes after Quannas White. No use staying at WKU if stansbury couldn't parlay a losing season into the LSU job.

Was there a suggestion that LSU wants Wade to keep Livingston?

I have no issues if Wade wants him.

I don't know if LSU insists (i hope they wouldn't) but I've heard Randy would be willing to stay. All the assistants were fired so it looks like he's clear to build his own staff which is teh right thing to do.

The home and home thing is really smart on VCU's part.

Is Quannas worth anything as a coach, or is just a recruiter?

With Randy's supposed Australian connections, plus Louisiana, he should be a good assistant. We haven't seen the results of that, but he's been at LSU less than a year and had a shitty product to sell.

Can you explain the thinking behind why this a smart thing for VCU? I'm sure I'm just missing something here.

Recruiter

Trent almost hired him before the TCU thing happened.
