He is a generational college talent, and not most players will get the accolades he has. I believe your argument is better suited that those who opt out, more often than not, will drop in rankings.

I seriously doubt Smith is faster than Chase. Waddle definitely is, but not Smith.

Lets revisit this when punters start opting out to boost their draft potential

So the NFL should draft guys based on the precedent it sets in college? Good luck with that.

Smith is 100% faster than chase. Chase wins with physicality and being fast enough. Smith is a burner just under the world class speed of waddle.

Smith's big knock is that he's 175 lbs.

I don't know if he goes top 5.

I'd be surprised if he goes top 5
Only way I see Chase not going top 5 is if he simply bombs interviews with teams or the top 5 picking teams have bigger needs than a WR.

Dude is an awesome talent.

Chase is one of the most, if not the most complete wide out in the draft. Are you mad about this...BUDDY?

lolwut?

Who didn't know this?

It's literally the reason he sat out. Everyone knew he was going to be a high pick, so why risk it for a fricked-up season.

Some of y'all just need to grasp the concept that these guys owe the University and, more importantly, YOU...absolutely nothing.

The only people they owe anything to are their teammates, families, and themselves. And if those folks are okay with them sitting out, for whatever reason, then so be it.

Might it suck as a fan, sure. But it's not your financial future on the line, so suck it up, buttercups.

Best of luck in the NFL, Ja'Marr!

Honestly, maybe let Sophmore apply for a waiver?

Let the GMs select 10 or less

Idk

I would be for this if the player in question grades out as being a 3rd round or better draft pick. ESPECIALLY running backs who have a very short shelf/knee life. Hell, I'd let running backs go after their freshman year if they grade out as a first or second round pick.

Too many of these kids are being influenced by agents, family members and outside forces and leave school only to find themselves undrafted or drafted in the seventh round with little to no real chance to make the team that drafted him. Or he winds up a journeyman who doesn't make enough money to even go back to school to finish his degree. See, e.g., Trev Faulk.

Agree 100%.

Terrance Marshall is the one that if anyone has a problem with its him. He did the right thing by playing the season because he needed to show people and the NFL that he was healthy and he could be dominant. He did that but the way he just opted out during the season is just not right. Like you said earlier he doesn't owe the university anything but he did quit on his teammates plain and simple.

If my kid was a guaranteed top 10 pick in the draft, especially with the Covid thing/new QB, I would probably encourage him to sit out the year. He was a major part of an LSU national championship. Crazy how a lot of you shite on him now for making the intelligent decision (before the season even started).

Why am I supposed to root for an individual over the team?

Nope! Not after opting out. You need to earn that.

Pretty sure he earned it in the national championship game.

Why doesn’t he owe the college anything. They gave him a free ride..... he should have to pay that back IMO.... talking about Marshall......
