A pro player has been defined by the SEC to be someone who has signed any type of contract with the NFL, NBA, or WNBA. That's it. Might not be the correct definition but it is the one clearly stipulated by the SEC.

But could the SEC punish LSU at the September 10 meeting when LSU didn’t break any rules? Yes. They could. They could use any of the allegations in the Amended Complaint to justify fining LSU or suspending Kiffin.
Even though no rule was violated, the SEC could punish LSU at the September 10 meeting. I have no doubt that at least one schools wants to punish LSU. I have serious doubt that the SEC would be able to find 11 schools who want to do that.

I don’t know. That’s why I was asking. Is signing a contract for name, image and likeness with a company, different than signing a contract with a pro team to play for them?

I believe that AG Murrill has already notified Sankey of such plans. He and his attorneys clearly miscalculated the amount of pushback that they would receive with these ridiculous lawsuits.

The SEC Constitution and Bylaws do not inherently violate federal or state laws because voluntary private associations have the right to govern their own members and enforce internal rules.
Penalizing members, even including expulsion, is generally lawful under voluntary private association governance law. LSU could sue for breach of contract or procedural due process if the SEC failed to follow its own written bylaws (such as the meeting requirement or the two-thirds majority voting requirement) during the process. But if the SEC follows its written process, LSU has no recourse or cause of action.

The meeting by SEC officials, which would be necessary to vote on punishing CLK, set for tomorrow, has also been postponed. Nothing scheduled in either the Federal suit & the League 's meeting to vote on expulsion / punishing CLK. Indefinite postponed.

No, this is a “strategic” move by Sankey still suffering from PTSD from eating cold gumbo. Part of the point of the whole damn suit was to prevent LSU from having its day in court to defend itself from the allegations. Now that he doesn’t need the federal court to clear the path from the enjoinment of the Baton Rouge court, he doesn’t want to give LSU a chance to talk at all publicly ahead of the closed door session tomorrow where the conference discusses what penalties are warranted.

It's my understanding that there is still a Thursday call with SEC presidents and chancellors because it was previously scheduled. It's my understanding that there will be no vote to expel LSU. Although HIGHLY UNLIKELY, they could still vote on other LSU penalties.
