Don't agree with this.

100% agree with this.

Yep. Agreed. I mean what 5 or 4 Star QB wouldn’t want to come be coached up by a career DL coach as HC, an OC that’s not been a full time OC since 1998 and a septuagenarian Passing Game Coordinator???

Apparently quite a few. O isn't a DL coach he is a head coach. Who wants to stay at LSU and not move on. An OC who loves LSU so much he decided to not pursue career advancement so that he could remain here where he wants to be.

Whether you constant bashers want to admit it or not, having a HC and an OC that you know will not be jumping ship your Soph year is a plus for the team.

SE knows football and has been successful as OC. Just because he is "unproven" doesn't mean he isn't the best OC in the world.

I am not saying you have to like O. I am not saying you have to agree that SE was the best hire. But with regards to SE I would think the comments should be more in line with "Not my choice but we will see" instead of the constant non-stop critisizm of the man.

I wish our fans were held to the same standard that they hold the coaches too. Crapping on the staff does not help LSU. Stop hurting the team you claim to love.

#1: Top level football programs like LSU once was are not supposed to be the place where unproven commodities "get their chance". It's a $100 million a year business.

I got news for you. your taking a chance with all HC football hires. There are no guarantees. At least give O the same chance you would any other HC hire before condemning him. It's just stupid to do that prematurely

No shite. It’s always a gamble. That’s why you try to play the odds. You don’t get coked up and bet your life savings on black in Vegas. That’s what we’ve done with O.

Answer my question about O's interim and last season's coaching job at LSU and explain to me how this makes Ed the worst coach ever?

If next year we have an explosive and productive offense like we haven't seen at LSU in forever, would you consider Ensminger one of the best OCs?

We had that already with Ensminger and it wasn't enough to score on the goal line to beat Florida, and got us shut out at home vs Bama.

Right!

And that's why you always attempt to hire the very best candidate for any job opening...right? To help minimize an already unpredictable process?

We at LSU have done the opposite, and are being called out for it. We've hired guys with terrible track records or mediocre track records and long stints at not even doing the job they have now been hired to do, and then HOPED that they will be ok.

If that was the way people hired, there would literally never be a need to look at a resume or check references or past job performance. You'd just hire anyone and wait it out to see if it worked.

That's what most reasonable posters are saying. If Steve fails again to do it in the games that count, he, Ed & Joe are all going to be gone.

Exactly. What stupidity from Boxcar.

No shite you're taking a chance.

You're taking a chance any time you bet on a horse too. That's why, absent some special knowledge, betting on the 1000:1 shot isn't likely to pan out.

You may be taking a chance on ANY hire, but you aren't taking an EQUAL chance on any hire.

Sheesh. The stupid burns.

Screw Every “Fan” Not Giving Ensminger and O A Chance

O was given a chance; he lied & didn’t do what he said he would do
1. Not meddle in his coordinators plans & let them coach
2. Hire the best coordinators.
People have a “problem” with the Ensminger hire because it looks like what it absolutely is; O surrounding himself with a “yes” man rather than the “best” man.

He is the worst coach ever at Ole Miss.

Last year at LSU he was an interim coach playing with someone elses hired staff and someone elses playbook. LSU finished with a record they were predicted to finish to start.

They did nothing more last year than the teams his predecessor did and got fired for it.

This year they were worse. Lost to Troy and MSU is historic fashion. Then fired pretty much the only actual coach he hired in a 3 million dollar experiment. Now we hire a man to run an offense something he hasnt done fulltime in 20 years and he wants him to run an offense he has never run before.

Thats pretty fricking bad.

If you have seen anything in the O hire that leads us to the playoffs in 1,2,3,4 or 5 years can you please enlighten those of us who do not?

What exactly are you getting at here? Are you implying that Steve Ensminger somehow made a sacrifice to be at LSU? He was coaching high school football when Miles hired him.

has been successful as OC

On a very limited basis.

2008 - 105
1998 - 93
1997 - 61
1996 - 34
1995 - 51
1994 - 61

Those are the Total Offense rankings for his career as OC at major football programs. Like Oregron, his best stint was an interim OC in 2016.
