Hired Nick Saban

What

Joe Dean hired Nick Saban.

quote:

Saban had his Memphis-based agent, Jimmy Sexton, get in touch with then–LSU athletic director Joe Dean. The conduit was Sean Tuohy, one of Sexton’s business partners and a friend of Dean. The negotiations moved quickly. Saban said he would accept the job, but only if LSU built a football operations building and an academic center for athletes and provided better living conditions for the players. When then–LSU chancellor Mark Emmert agreed to Saban’s conditions, it marked the commitment that advanced the program to a national championship contender.

quote:

Among Dean's final major decisions at the helm of the athletic department was to hire Nick Saban as head football coach.

Joe Dean was hired for exactly 1 reason- to cut costs. And that’s all he did. Remember when he asked Pat Sullivan to pay his own buyout to leave TCU?

Dean was garbage

To make money , you got to spend money.

By the way, did they ever pull Joe Dean’s car out of the LSU lakes ?

It all comes down to concession stand food. If he can keep the nachos hot, I’d say he’s a shoe in. Those little packets of jalapeños were a giant leap in AD history.

Only if he hires Will Wade back. That is still a major stain on his record
It's amazing that people can think this way.

Well, the bar is pretty low.
He struck out at T A&M.
Give anyone the keys to Fort Knox, they can hire Hall of Fame coaches also.

I thought it was Bertman to be honest. I did a LOT of partying back then. So, my memory is ungood.

I'm happy to admit to being wrong.

aTm have to stick with Jimbo, I’d call that a Grand Slam. Far from a strike out.

“ Fisher's current buyout is more than four times larger than the largest paid buyout in college football history; Gus Malzahn's buyout was $21.45 million when fired by Auburn in 2020.”

His four-year extension was approved by the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents on Sept. 1, 2021, and began in 2022 with a $9-million salary, which increases each year through 2031:

2022: $9,000,000
2023: $9,150,000
2024: $9,250,000
2025: $9,350,000
2026: $9,450,000
2027: $9,550,000
2028: $9,650,000
2029: $9,750,000
2030: $9,850,000
2031: $9,950,000

An what was Woody doing in 2021? Making the Kelly, Jay Johnson and Mulkey hires.

He technically won a national championship in football the year he came in. He’s the greatest of all time
