With the game in hand around 630 pm Saturday, right around sunset, let them play.

And let CBS figure out a way to drown it out!

Van Pelt offered to pay the fine for the LSU band to play the song "Neck," a song that has been band by the school since 2017 due to its vulgarity, according to a story from 2020 by the LSU student paper Reveille.

The Tigerband started played it while I was in the band, I was a freshman in 2005 and was in all 4 years. I believe it was either my Junior or senior year. If junior year it would have been the year we won the natty. I should remember this but I honestly think it may have been my senior year (2008-2009). It was LRM, FJW and Roy King who brought it in. Probably Roy, TBH. Maybe someone in the band from my era can recall the exact year?

I love Scott Woodward but this is pissing me off,

Make the call man. We all want it, it's a college football game

Not a middle school football game

Money better spent on multiple performances of the traditional Tiger Rag after scoring.

No laughing assholes!!!!

Or like asking Trump not to bring hookers into the bedroom next door while your wife is full-on preggers.

That’s probably right but I don’t think it really got “fun” until the next season.

I’m curious if the band even knows how to play neck now. They may not practice it anymore and the newer members may not know how to play it. I’ve never been in a band so I don’t know how that works but I’d imagine they’d be a little rusty.

Yes we were civilized in 2007 and didn't add that stupid STTDB

The B at the end was always so grating

Well if they would practice like A&M does at the midnight yell, they would get it. I’m pretty sure the tailgate cocktails has something to do with their timing.

No one that is a student now even remembers when the band played Neck regularly, its been like ten years. I don't even know where they learned the chant I see ITT that school banned it in 2017, but the band definitely stopped playing it regularly well before that.

This. Just like they speed up the pregame claps/drumbeat as the band walks out and finish the alma mater 15 seconds before the band and everyone else.

It might've started in 2006, but it became popular in 2007. During the infamous "white hat" 3OT game (everyone thought Miles was going to Michigan) against Arkansas, the band played "neck" during the timeout before 4th down in the 1st OT. It was the best environment I recall from "neck" being played in Tiger Stadium.

Go to 4:05:00.

Verne talks over the band, but the atmosphere was awesome without the STTDB.
